  • If the random variable X denotes the lifetime of a unit, then the random variable XðtÞ ¼ ½t X Xj 6 t for a fixed t > 0 is known as the inactivity time. In this paper, based on the random variable X(t), a new class of life distributions, namely increasing variance inactivity time (IVIT) and the concept of inactivity coefficient of variation (ICV), are introduced. The closure properties of the IVIT class under some reliability operations, such as mixing, convolution and formation of coherent systems, are obtained.

  • The present investigation was carried out at rice research farm ofBihar Agricultural University, Sabour (Bhagalpur), Bihar in kharif, 2019 to assess the extent of genetic variability for yield and yield related traits and to estimate heritability and genetic advance in rice genotypes for drought tolerance. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant variation among the genotypes for all the traits studied, under both the environments. The maximum phenotypic and genotypic variance was exhibited by the traits viz., leaf area and root biomass under both the environments.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the economic value that arise from incorporating conditional volatility when forecasting the covariance matrix of returns for both short and long horizons in the Vietnamese stock market, using the volatility timing framework of Fleming et al. (2001). We report three main findings. First, investors are willing to pay to switch from the static to a dynamic volatility timing strategy. Second, there is negligible difference in forecast performance among short and memory volatility models.

  • Studies on genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance were carried out among 15 genotypes of chrysanthemum for characters to identify genotypes to be used in breeding programme. High PCV and GCV was recorded in fresh flower weight (GCV %: 69.92, PCV%: 70.25) indicate the existence of wide range of genetic variability and hence there is a good scope for the improvement of these characters through selection.

  • The 33 diverse genotypes were evaluated for mean performance, genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for yield and yield contributing characters namely plant height, number of leaves plant-1 , length of the petiole, internodal length, number of tubers plant-1 , individual tuber weight, dry matter content of the tubers, tuber length, tuber girth, tuber length diameter ratio, harvest index, leaf area, starch, HCN content, tuber yield plant-1 .   • Present investigation was carried out to study combining ability along with inheritance of grain yield and its component traits in 50 hybrids of pearl millet which were generated through line x tester mating design using 5 male sterile lines and 10 restorers as parental material at ICRISAT, Hyderabad during Summer, 2018. These hybrids were evaluated in randomized block design with 3 replications in 3 environments during Kharif, 2018 at Agricultural Research Station, Bikaner. In results, both GCA and SCA variances were found significant for majority of characters.

  • The present investigation was carried out in 49 groundnut genotypes to assess the nature and extent of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance under normal (0 % polyethylene glycol-6000 as control) and osmotic stress condition (15 % polyethylene glycol-6000) in germination phases in three replications in a completely randomized design. The observations on germination per cent, root length, shoot length, fresh weight of seedlings and total dry matter were recorded on tenth day after incubation.

  • An experiment entitled "Performance of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) Hybrids under Polyhouse Condition” was conducted at Hi-Tech Unit, Department of Horticulture, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur during the year 2017-18 to find out the best tomato hybrid under polyhouse condition. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design with nine hybrids replicated four times. The analysis of variance revealed significant variation among the hybrids for all the characters.

  • The research data spread over a period of 41 years (1974 to 2015) were utilized to study the heritability, genetic and phenotypic correlation of life time performance traits. The mixed model analysing using LSML were used for estimation of variance components considering sire as a random effect, season and period of birth and age at first calving groups as fixed effects. Period of birth was highly significant on LTMY3, LTMY4, ALTMY, HL and PL whereas non-significant on BE. Season of birth did not influence any of the trait considered in the study.

  • In this research fifty F4 progenies of brinjal were subjected to study the extent of variability present in the experimental material. Analysis of variance indicated presence of large variability for different characters under study. Most of the growth, flowering, fruit and yield characters under study were found significantly varied. The magnitude of phenotypic variance was greater than genotypic variance in all the characters under the study.

  • Onion (Allium cepa L.) is an economical important crop, but genetic diversity among the genotypes is poorly understood. The study was conducted in Rabi, 2016 to access the genetic diversity in 33 onion genotypes by correlation and multivariate analysis. The analysis of variance was highly significant for 15 physiological, biochemical and yield traits, which revealed the presence of genetic variability among the entries. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive association between phenol and bulb yield whereas; flavanoids are strongly associated with antioxidant activity.

  • Herein, a polyamide-based thin film composite (TFC) membrane was fabricated for the removal of arsenic (As) from water. The polyamide thin film was synthesized through interfacial polymerization (IP) onto a polysulfone porous substrate. A Box-Behnken design of response surface methodology was used to investigate the effect of preparation conditions, including piperazine (PIP) concentration, trimesoyl chloride (TMC) concentration, and reaction time on the As rejection and permeate flux of the synthesized membrane.

The estimates of genotypic and phenotypic variances for the characters like plant height, effective tillers per plant, number of grains per panicle, grain yield per plant, straw yield per plant, harvest index and 1000 grain weight, genotypic variance contributed larger in phenotypic variance.
