Fashion design education does not have a very long history in Sri Lanka. But the institutes have completed considerable number of years to review their curriculum approaches to revise for future trends and demands. At present, so far locally qualified fashion designers are applying fashion design in many unique ways according to each individual’s need. This research will identify their experience and practices. In doing so, the research will assist to understand the current position of the fashion designer within Sri Lanka’s fashion industry system to address the key research questions.

Housing is an essential amenity. However the impact, due to current trend of increasing embodied energy consumption per capita should be minimised. This may even require major cultural shift to traditional construction processes, practices and home owner perceptions. This thesis presents the outcomes of a study investigating ways to produce a “bill of embodied energy” for housing sector aligned to the standard practice of “bill of quantities”.

The study was carried out during 2013-14 in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh state to focus on the sugarcane growers regarding impact of knowledge on adoption level of IPM practices. The 80 contact farmers were selected as respondents. This research compares the impacts of devastating natural disasters on levels of human trafficking in developed countries to the impacts experienced in third world countries. The two disasters selected for this study were Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana and the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. Factors selected to measure the impacts of the natural disaster include income level, homelessness, and unemployment rates.
