The Member States that have acceded to the EU since 2004 have grown at above average rates and gained shares in the EU-27’s total output. In spite of this, a comparison of the development of ME across the whole of the EU with the progress experienced in individual new Member States 26 shows a below average growth. ME has lost shares of total manufacturing output, particularly in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, although to a lesser degree in the latter ( Figure 2.2). Noteworthy structural changes are underway in the Italian manufacturing industry. For more than a decade...

In our review of the literature, we focus first on the value graduates derive from holding the MBA degree. Identification of these benefits should lead to inferences on the reasons for choosing the degree. But since our premise is that online programs encourage the participation of more experienced students, we believe that understanding the motives for choosing a specific program is also important. Our review of the literature is organized to highlight these two points: the value of the MBA, and the motives for choosing a particular type of MBA program. ...

“I completed my BBS in International Business through a combination of campus and distance learning papers. Prior to the BBS, I was employed as a computer systems engineer and wanted to change direction – to move across to the business side of the industry. I found that I had no real knowledge of how businesses worked or what skills were needed to succeed in the business world. Study by distance learning provided great flexibility in completing the degree while working. I am now a Senior Corporate Account Manager for Microsoft New Zealand.

Difficulty in addressing contamination in low permeability soils may be alleviated to some degree by controlled pneumatic or hydraulic fracturing of the soil. However, engineered hydraulic fractures generally cannot be spaced more closely than about 5 feet, which means that chemical oxidants must still penetrate a substantial thickness of low permeability soil to come into contact with the contamination. Deep soil mixing with large diameter drill augers is the most effective method currently available to increase contact between adsorbed contaminants and the oxidants.

In other parts of the world building science is afforded greater significance in both education and industry. It is apparent that countries such as the Netherlands, with well established university teaching and research in building sciences, lead the UK in terms of delivering low carbon buildings.
