  • The book are the best you can find about safety of process. All the chapters represent the state of the art of knowledge of the specific argument. Theory and practice are combined in a harmonious and unitary description. Unfortunately is not available, for consultants and designers outside of academia, even for a fee, the solution manual. And this, I think, is the MOST IMPORTANT limitation of the manual.

  • The final report will contain an introduction or overview of the organisation followed by an account of the units or areas visited by the inspection team and a description of practices which normally will refer to relevant data protection principles such as ‘fair processing’/‘fair obtaining’ or data retention. The final section of the report will contain an overall conclusion, set of findings and a series of recommendations. The inspection team will aim to achieve agreement with the audited entity regarding the text of the final report, but this is not always possible.

  • Every day we make measurements, yet, do we consider the accuracy of that measurement? If you are a provider of service or product then this publication will help you to take your quality systems to levels that can save you time and money, improving your methodology and giving you a clearer understanding on how to measure up. In many cases measurements are made as a guide for approximating, therefore...

  • The initiating problem is unstructured design processes and vague descriptions of the form problems in the students’ critique of each other's product proposals, and very vague presentations of the product's aesthetic qualities in their reports. The problem must be seen in relation to the fact that the majority of the students can express themselves clearly in engineering fields and that design methodology is based on technical parameters.

  • The first, most conventional way to characterize the global health picture is a description of health and disease. Today, the overall picture for child health and maternal health in poor countries is worrisome indeed. While child mortality has steadily declined in the last two decades, still approximately 10.8 million children under the age of five die each year. Progress on key indicators is slowing, and in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, child mortality is on the rise. The great bulk of the mortality decline since the 1970s is attributable to reduction in deaths...

  • The syntactic analysis of languages with respect to Government-binding (GB) grammar is a problem that has received relatively little attention until recently. This paper describes an attribute grammar specification of the Government-binding theory. The paper focuses on the description of the attribution rules responsible for determining antecedent-trace relations in phrase-structure trees, and on some theoretical implications of those rules for the G B model.

  • This paper describes an operational system which can acquire the core meanings of words without any prior knowledge of either the category or meaning of any words it encounters. The system is given as input, a description of sequences of scenes along with sentences which describe the [EVENTS] taking place as those scenes unfold, and produces as output, a lexicon consisting of the category and meaning of each word in the input, that allows the sentences to describe the [EVENTS]. It is argued, that each of the three main components of the system, the parser, the linker and the...

  • This paper introduces a novel generation system that composes humanlike descriptions of images from computer vision detections. By leveraging syntactically informed word co-occurrence statistics, the generator filters and constrains the noisy detections output from a vision system to generate syntactic trees that detail what the computer vision system sees. Results show that the generation system outperforms state-of-the-art systems, automatically generating some of the most natural image descriptions to date. ...
