  • Toxic heavy metals, i.e. copper (II), lead (II) and cadmium (II), can be removed from water by metallurgical solid wastes, i.e. bauxite waste red muds and coal fly ashes acting as sorbents. These heavy-metal-loaded solid wastes may then be solidified by adding cement to a durable concrete mass assuring their safe disposal. Thus, toxic metals in water have been removed by sorption on to inexpensive solid waste materials as a preliminary operation of ultimate fixation. Metal uptake (sorption) and release (desorption) have been investigated by thermostatic batch experiments.

Despite its relevance, serum biomarkers associated with early-onset viral infection, when clinical signs are not detectable and the disease is characterized by a weak anti-viral response and persistent infection, have not yet been identified.   • Catalytic oxidation of m-xylene was carried out over the copper oxide catalyst loaded on SiO2 300 m2/g. The various techniques were used to characterize the catalysts x-ray diffraction, TPRH2, N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tranmission electron microscopy (TEM) and CO pulse chemisorptions.   • In 1998, it was first reported that a silica material with large, uniform mesopores arranged into a two-demensional hexagonal structure is synthesized using triblock copolymer and oligomer templates poly (ethylene oxide), (EO)n. This silica was denoted SBA-15. Up to now, it is believed that ordered mesopores of SBA-15 are connected through complementary pores (microporores and small mesopores) in the siliceous pore walls. SBA-15 can be readily synthesized using cheap materials and it shows attractive structural properties, very good hydrothemal stability.

  • Nanoparticle of Perovskite La1-xSrxCoO3 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7) were prepared by using citric acid sol-gel method. The structure and morphology of products were investigated by X-ray difraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The specific surface area (BET) was determined by N2 adsorption/desorption at 77 K. The catalytic oxidation of propene and removal NOx were studied by Temperature Program Surface Reaction (TPSR) over every compositions. The results show that the contened of substituted ion Sr2+ influenced on the oxidation temperature of propene.

  • The oxide reduction diffusion (ORD) procedure has recently been applied in synthesizing hydrogen storage materials AB5 for Ni-MH batteries. Starting from metal hydroxides and La oxalat precursor, superfine powder alloys LaNi5, LaNi4.5Co0.5 and LaNi3.87Mn1.13 were obtained by this “soft-chemistry” route. Chemical composition, structure and morphology of alloy phases were examined by different analysis techniques such as AAS, EPMA, X-ray and TEM. The H2-absorption and desorption behavior of crystalline products was determined by Sieverts’ method.
