  • The pulsed diode end-pumped passively Q-switched solid-state Nd:YAG lasers are investigated experimentally. A high power laser diode (pulse repetition rate adjustable from 1 Hz to 10 kHz, pulse duration of 600 s) is used as a pumping laser. The obtained results show that the pulsed diode end-pumped passively Q-switched solid state Nd- doped lasers have the advantages in controlling pulse repetition rate, improving nanosecond solid-state laser pulse power and stability (low jitter) in comparison with the use of CW diode end-pumping.

  • We present the design and development of folded four-mirror resonators for diode end-pumped solid-state Cr:LiSAF lasers. The astigmatic effects due to the Brewster-cut laser crystal and two curved mirrors used at oblique incidence were taken into consideration. The obtained results showed the stability regions of resonator, the beam parameters in the resonator and within the laser crystal as well as other sensitive parameters and their variation ranges. Furthermore, the designed folded four-mirror resonators for diode end-pumped Cr:LiSAF laser were experimentally evaluated.

  • Discovered almost fifty years ago at Bell Labs (1964), the Nd:YAG laser has undergone an enormous evolution in the years, being now widely used in both basic research and technological applications. Nd:YAG laser is extremely versatile in its output characteristics, yielding emission from continuous wave to very large energy pulses or very high peak-power pulses. Also, it covers a large spectral range, namely near infrared, visible (second harmonic) and ultraviolet (third to fifth harmonic).

  • This book deals with theoretical and experimental aspects of solid-state lasers, including optimum waveguide design of end pumped and diode pumped lasers. Nonlinearity, including the nonlinear conversion, up frequency conversion and chirped pulse oscillators are discussed. Some new rare-earth-doped lasers, including double borate and halide crystals, and feedback in quantum dot semiconductor nanostructures are included.
