  • Currently I'm attending in a preparing course. And there are exams. I did well, got 85% in Ethics and 100% in Quantitative methods. However I think the scores are somehow misleading, I still don't feel so confident in any of these 2 fields. The book is really useful, specially in the field of quantitative methods. If you're going to take the test and you have enough time, I recommend reading this book instead of guide books such as Schweser Note.

  • The so-called “dual-use dilemma” arises in the context of research in the biological and other sciences as a consequence of the fact that one and the same piece of scien- tific research sometimes has the potential to be used for harm as well as for good. A dual-use dilemma is an ethical dilemma, and an ethical dilemma for the researcher (and for those who have the power or authority to assist or impede the researcher’s work, e.g., governments). It is an ethical dilemma since it is about promoting good in the context of the potential for also causing harm, e.g.,...

  • THIS BOOK GREW OUT OF MANY YEARS OF STUDYing, writing, and lecturing on ethical issues. My revered teacher, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, inspired me to treat Halakhah not merely as a legal system but as the matrix of ideas, concepts, and values of fundamental importance to Jewish philosophy. Although I have frequently referred to Rabbi Soloveitchik in this book, it is impossible to adequately record my indebtedness to him.

  • Issues related with powerlessness are usually present in their everyday life, especially as of the moment when people escape from patterns considered acceptable by society, being marginalized and deprived of possibilities. This fact occurs, for instance, with the elderly population, which is sometimes acknowledged as incapable of making its own decisions or even assuming its role within society. • Supervision, particularly as a component of initial training, and increasingly as a contributory element in continuing professional development, is deeply embedded in the cultures of the helping professions. This is despite the claim (Holloway and Neufeldt, 1995) that there is no research on standardised and empirically validated training programmes for supervisors. Client outcome is the ultimate test of the effectiveness of supervision. But the relationship between supervisor interventions and client change is subtle and complex.
