  • In this paper, we have prepared peripherally tetra-({6-[3-(diethylamino)phenoxy]hexyl}oxy substituted cobalt(II), copper(II), manganese(III) phthalocyanines (3, 4, 5) and their water-soluble derivatives (3a, 4a, 5a). Then, in vitro α-glucosidase and cholinesterases inhibitory actions of the water-soluble 3a, 4a, 5a were examined using spectrophotometric methods. 4a had the highest inhibitory effects among the tested compounds against α-glucosidase due to IC50 values. 4a and 5a had 40 fold higher inhibitory effects than the positive control.

  • Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 (SDC20) electrolytes were synthesized with cellulose templating (CT) and PVA templating (PVAT) methods. Powder characteristics were examined using TG/DTA, XRD, and SEM. Pellets are sintered at various temperatures for different durations. Mean grain sizes were calculated from SEM micrographs using the linear intercept method. Grain growth behavior of the electrolytes was investigated and the dominant diffusion mechanism was examined.

  • In this study, the noncompetitive and competitive adsorption process of copper (II) and nickel (II) ions on the natural zeolite were examined in simulated wastewater in a batch system with respect to concentration, pH and temperature. Optimum pH values were found as 5,0 for adsorption of copper and nickel ions on the zeolite. The effect of initial concentration and ambient temperature on the yield of adsorption was examined at this pH value.

  • The 2-methylpyridine, 2-diethylaminoethyl, and isopentyl linked a series of symmetric and unsymmetric benzimidazolium salts 2a-e were prepared and used in the synthesis of silver-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes (3a-e). We examined the effect of the structural difference of complexes on anticancer activity via different arenes and metal centers. Antiproliferative activity of 5a-h and 3a was tested against human cervix adenocarcinoma (HeLa) and rat glioblastoma (C6) cell lines by ELISA assay.

  • The identification of the defects and secondary phases which significantly affect the material properties are of crucial importance. In this study, a systematic structure examination of PbTiO3 and cobalt doped PbTiO3 powder ceramics was carried out. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), Raman, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopies were applied along with nonsimultaneous thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

  • In this study, olive oil residue (OR) biomass was pyrolyzed in the presence of bulk MgO (B-MgO), nano-MgO (N-MgO), bulk ZnO (B-ZnO)), and nano-ZnO (N- ZnO) metal oxides at different temperatures (400, 600, and 800 ºC). Significant results were obtained in terms of synthesis gas formation and CO2 reduction. The efficiency distribution of the products obtained as a result of the metal oxide-based pyrolysis process and the effects of metal oxides were examined in detail.

  • In this study, antimicrobial nanofibers were produced with the mixtures of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and cyclotide-rich fractions by electrospinning method. After extraction, the first separation was carried out with C18 flash chromatography and then fractioned into five separate parts by reversed-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The molecular weights of cyclotides in each fraction were determined by quadrupole time-of-flight liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (Q-TOF LC-MS).

  • The conversion of fumaric acid into L-malate by fumarase immobilized on silanized nanostructures was analyzed experimentally. The enzyme was bound to the silanized nanostructures. We carried out scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, zeta size analysis and surface area calculation for the characterization of the nanostructures. The effect of initial enzyme concentration and pH on immobilization procedure were investigated and the change of Michaelis-Menten constants (Km and Vmax) with immobilization was examined.

  • This study focuses on the improvement in fire performance, and flame retardancy (FR) properties of chopped basalt fiberreinforced acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) composites. For this purpose, different amounts of aluminum diethyl phosphinate (AlPi) compound (5, 10, and 15 wt%) were incorporated in the composites. The FR properties of the composites were examined via limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94 standard, and mass loss calorimeter tests.

  • In our current phytochemical investigation on the Tunisian plant Lycium arabicum Schweinf. ex Boiss., we attempted to explore the oil obtained from its fruits. This oil was extracted by cold maceration with ethanol and was analyzed to estimate its sterol and fatty acid content. The physicochemical parameters of the oil were also examined. They were specified in terms of acid value (0.8 ± 0.01 mg KOH g–1 oil), peroxide value (10.9 ± 0.02 meq O2 kg–1 oil), saponification value (162.97 ± 0.03 mg KOH g–1 oil), chlorophylls (1.011 ± 0.03 mg kg–1 oil) and carotenoids (42.1 ± 0.05mg kg–1 oil).

  • In this study, Turkish Cousinia species were examined in point of chromosome number and morphology. To our knowledge, this work is the first comprehensive chromosomal study regarding Turkish Cousinia as a whole, especially for endemics. As consistent with previous reports, the chromosome numbers are mostly 2n = 26 and have been determined also as 2n = 24 for only the members of Cynaroideae and Sphaerocephalae sections.

  • Despite great progress in complex gene regulatory mechanisms in the dynamic tumor microenvironment, the potential contribution of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) to cancer cell metabolism is poorly understood. Death receptor 5 antisense (DR5-AS) is a cisplatin inducible lncRNA whose knockdown modulates cell morphology. However, its effect on cell metabolism is unknown. The aim of this study is to examine metabolic changes modulated by cisplatin and DR5-AS lncRNA in HeLa cells.
