Flavonols are produced by the desaturation of flavanols catalyzed by flavonol synthase. The enzyme belongs to the class of intermolecular dioxygenases which depend on molecular oxygen and Fe II /2-oxoglutarate for activity, and have been in focus of structural studies recently. Flavonol synthase cDNAs were cloned from six plant species, but none of the enzymes had been studied in detail.

TiO2-Fe@CNTs nanocomposite materials were synthesized by hydrothermal route in Teflon-sealed autoclave at 180˚C for 10h. The FESEM and X-Ray diffraction measurements were taken for morphology and structural analysis of TiO2 nanoparticles doped with Fe coating on CNTs. The effects of the iron and CNTs on the enhanced photocatalytic activity for methylene blue degradation under AM 1.5 illumination of 100 mW.cm−2were investigated.

In this work, nano-Fe/Cu bimetallic particles are synthesized and used to reduce chloroform to methane in aqueous solution. The synthesized particles are characterized by X ray diffraction (XRD) pattern, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images and energy dispersive X ray (EDX) analysis.

Timber is highly anisotropic. It behaves differently in diverse directions. Tension and compression perpendicular to the grain present a low strength with respect to the ones parallel to the grain. To compensate for the lack, the self-tapping screw is an excellent choice for reinforcing the timber. This paper focuses on the notched timber beam with the experimental and numerical results. In the first part, the experimental results of the unreinforced notched beams and the screw reinforced notched beams under bending load will be presented.

Three target points in acid sulfate soils have been identified as: 1) Aluminum (Al) toxicity; 2) Iron (Fe) toxicity; 3) Phosphorous (P) deficiency; and 4) Droughts at the seedling stage. The exploitation of gene pools from wild rice species fruitfully obtained a true introgression of desirable traits into high yielding varieties (HYVs), such as AS996 (IR64/Oryza rufipogon), which are tolerant to Al-toxicity, have short durations, high yields, and adaptability to acid sulfate soils.

Hair identification is a complex and important aspect in view of forensic investigation. The use of scanning electron microscopy in wildlife forensic cases has been described for species identification in this review article. The surface cuticular pattern, cross section and medullary index provides the information regarding the domestic and wild species of the animals. Elemental analysis through EDS provides significant information of the hair sample of specific sample which can further be used as a geographical region and species identification tool.

The present research study has been conducted with prime objective to investigate the effect of manure and fertilizers on chemical fractions of Fe and Mn under rice-wheat system. Laboratory analysis was made on the soil samples collected (October 2013) from an on-going long-term field experiment (in progress since Kharif2009-10) at Department of Soil Science, PAU, Ludhiana. The organic manure through bio gas slurry (BGS) @ 6 t ha-1 was incorporated along with nitrogen (N @ 80 and 120 kg ha-1 ), phosphorus (P @ 30 kg ha-1 ) and potassium fertilizer (K @ 30 kg ha-1 ) to the rice crop.

Plants generally showed variation in their response to changing environment. Thirty mungbean genotypes were tested at six artificial environments in India in the Kharif season 2010 to study their yield and micronutrient stability. Pooled analysis of variance indicated highly significant differences for genotypes (G), environment (E) and G X E interaction.

Influence of substitution of 3d metals for Mn on properties of La0.67Ca0.33Mn0.9 TM0.1O3 (TM = Fe, Co, Ni) compounds was studied. Ferromagnetic – paramagnetic and metals – insulator transitions were significantly affected by Mn-site substitution. However, no observable difference was found in their crystal structure from X-ray diffraction analysis. At room temperature the structure characterization of these compounds gave the single phase and structure is the distortion orthorhombic cell with space group symmetry Pnma.

In this study, a feed-forward back-propagation Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to predict the stress relaxation and behavior of creep for bimaterial microcantilever beam for sensing device. Results obtained from ANSYS® 8.1 finite element (FE) simulations, which show good agreement with experimental work [1], is used to train the neural network. Parametric studies are carried out to analyze the effects of creep on the microcantilever beam in term of curvature and stress developed with time.

This paper was undertaken to study the material composition and wear characteristics of austempered ductile iron third edition (ADI 3rd edition) rotavator blades which were developed by austempering heat process done over cast iron. The objective was carried out by means of elemental analysis and identification of wear pattern of rotavator blades with increase in operational time. The results indicated that the change in material composition responsible for wear characteristics of blades.

This study aimed to find the gene action, GCA and SCA effects for yield, its components and micronutrients and their association with each other. For this, thirty six crosses (hybrids), nine parents and two checks ICTP 8203 Fe and ICMB 98222 (totalling 47 genotypes) were evaluated during Kharif 2014 at three locations viz., IARI, New Delhi (zone A), IARI Regional Centre, Dharwad (zone B) and National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Regional Station, Jodhpur (zone A1). These locations represented all pearl millet growing zones.

This paper presents a numerical method for analyzing the behavior of pile groups under construction of installing piles and excavating conditions. The numerical modeling and the measured data from construction sites were used for analysis. In the case study, the results of the lateral movement of piles from numerical analyses are in good agreement with the measured data, with differences of around 7.2% and 1.6%.
