He moved the field forward by believing that technology could improve care, but insisting on responsible application and repetitive reassessment of the data as a means of doing so. Andy was an ardent supporter of basic and translational science in urology in both word and deed. He was a passionate educator and served our national organizations such as the American Board of Urology with pride and conviction. JEAN JACQUES ROUSSEAU began his famous Confessions by a vehement appeal to the Deity: "I have shown myself as I was; contemptible and vile when I was so; good, generous, sublime when I was so; I have unveiled my interior such as Thou thyself hast seen it, Eternal Father! Collect about me the innumerable swarm of my fellows; let them hear my confessions; let them groan at my unworthiness; let them blush at my meannesses! Let each of them discover his heart in his turn at the foot of thy throne with the same sincerity; and then let any one of them tell thee if...

John Meade Falkner was a remarkable character, as he was not only a scholar and a writer, but a captain of industry as well. Born in 1858, the son of a clergyman in Wiltshire, he was educated at Marlborough and Hertford College, Oxford. On leaving the university, he became tutor to the sons of Sir Andrew Noble, then vice-chairman of the Armstrong-Whitworth Company; and his ability so much impressed his employer that in 1885 he was offered a post in the firm. Without connections or influence in industrial circles, and solely by his intellect, he rose to be a...

Both approaches address real-life applications of essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills, and both employ interactive teaching and learning methods....

Although some chapters are robust in their discussion of anatomic and physiologic detail, others are written in a purely “how to” style. At its core, the book is written as a reference and guidebook for practicing surgeons, gastroenterologists, and interventional radiologists with an interest in hepatobiliary diseases.

The Art of Public Speaking people we are arming every day? Or deceive them, when we are educating them to the utmost limit of our ability? Or outlaw them, when we work side by side with them? Or re−enslave them under legal forms, when for their benefit we have even imprudently narrowed the limit of felonies and mitigated the severity of law?
