Sweet sorghum has elicited the interest of breeder due to its capacity to provide renewable energy products, industrial commodities, food and animal feed. The sweet sorghum donor RSSV 313 is developed through a cross NSS223 x NARI 111 at MPKV, Rahuri through pedigree selection as identified and recommended as a donor parent in crop improvement programme based on specific physiological traits viz.

Prolyl endopeptidase (PEP) is a proline-specific oligopepti-dase with a reported effect on learning and memory in dif-ferent rat model systems. Using the astroglioma cell line U343,PEP expression was reduced by an antisense technique. Measuring different second-messenger concen-trations revealed an inverse correlation between inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate [Ins(1,4,5)P3] concentration and PEP expression in the generated antisense cell lines. However,no effect on cAMP generation was observed.

To generate human antibodies against CXCR4, a seven-transmembrane chemokine receptor and a principal coreceptor forHIV-1, several roundsofPathfinder andStep-back selection from a large phage display antibody library were performed on Jurkat cells. A mAb against CXCR4 or biotinyated phage antibodies were used as guide molecules. Over 100 pan-Jurkat-cell-positive antibodies were charac-terized, but none were CXCR4 specific.

This study describes the construction of a library of single-chain antibody fragments (scFvs) from a single human donor by individual amplification of all heavy and light variable domains (1.1·10 8 recombinants). The lib-rary was panned using the phage display technique, which allowed selection of specific scFvs (3F and C1) capable of recognizing Cn2, the major toxic component of Centruroides noxiusscorpion venom.
