  • Maize (Zea maize) belongs to family (Gramineae). It is the third most important cereal food grain crop in the world followed by rice and wheat. The origin of maize is Mexico in Central America. It contributes about 20 per cent world’s total cereal production. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and maize growers. On the basis of high area under maize crop Malshiras, Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected three tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under maize crop.

  • Investigation was carried out during the year 2017-2018. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and ber growers. On the basis of high area under ber crop Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected two tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under ber crop. From each village 8 ber growers were selected. In this way 96 ber growers were selected for the present study.

  • A field experiment was carried out during kharif, 2018 at the research farm of the ICAR, Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad, Telangana state. The soil of the experimental field was clay loam in texture, low in available nitrogen, medium in phosphorus and high in potassium content. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with eleven treatments and each one replicated thrice. Highest net returns Rs 92,658 ha-1 was recorded with the application of 100% RDN through neem coated urea.

  • The Present Study deals with the cost and return of sugarcane in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh state. The district is purposely selected for this study because these district main commercial activities of the people living in this region are making and selling Gur and Khandsari Sugar, which is an agro-based industry. It was conducted in Baraut and Chhaprauli blocks in the district. The primary data were collected for the year 2016- 2017. Primary data were collected from the sample respondents by conducting personal interview and pretested schedule.

  • The paper highlights cost and returns of coffee growing by tribal farmers at Paderu division in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.Data collection was done using pre tested questionnaire administrated on 90 coffee producers selected randomly. According to the study small scale traditional farms had negligible fixed costs. So we have not taken the fixed costs in computation of cost of cultivation of coffee in the present study.   • The field experiment was conducted during kharif season, 2017 at Seed Farm, College of Agriculture, Vijayapura,Karnataka. The experiment comprised of nine biopriming treatments and control. The results revealed that the higher seed yield (790 kg ha-1 ), gross returns (Rs. 39,475 ha-1 ), net returns (Rs. 24,046 ha-1 ) and B:C ratio (2.56) were recorded in the Rhizobium leguminosarum @ 20 per cent followed by Trichoderma harzianum @ 20 per cent, Streptomyces sp. strain AUDT-502 @ 20 per cent as compared to control and Fluorescent pseudomonad sp.

  • The study was taken up to estimate the cost and returns of briquette production in Tamil Nadu. Structured interview schedule was used to collect necessary data from the briquette production unit. Total cost of briquette production was found to be Rs 3441 per tonne. In which fixed and variable cost was Rs 341 per tonne, Rs 3100 per tonne respectively. Gross returns of briquette production were Rs 4700 per tonne.

  • An experiment was conducted at Department of Agronomy, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam to achieve enhanced remuneration and profit margin in irrigated finger millet through intercropping and mulching. Among mulching, the highest gross return (Rs.68,336/- ha-1 ) and B:C ratio of 2.16 was obtained in rice straw mulch (M1) which was followed by M2 (shredded coconut waste mulch) with a gross return of Rs.63,635/- ha-1 and B:C ratio of 2.01. Similar trend in net return was observed because of higher crop yield.

  • Makhana or gorgon nut (Euryale ferox) is an aquatic crop belongs to Nymphaeaceae family and is grown in some districts of north Bihar. The present study was conducted in two leading makhana producing districts, Darbhanaga and Madhubani of Bihar. The main objective of the investigation was to assess the costs and returns from cultivation of makhana in the study area.   • A field experiment was conducted during 2 rainy (kharif), winter (rabi) and summer seasons (2015-17) on a sandy clay loam soil at New Delhi to evaluate 5 cropping systems viz., maize–pea–okra, maize–mustard–green gram, cotton–wheat, bottle gourd–onion and okra–wheat, for productivity, profitability and energetics.
