  • Let R be a ring and a, b, c ∈ R. We give a novel characterization of group inverses (resp. EP elements) by the properties of right (resp. left ) c -regular inverses of a and discuss the relation among the strongly left (b, c)-invertibility of a, the right ca-regularity of b , and the (b, c)-invertibility of a.

  • We hope that among these chapters you will find a topic which will raise your interest and engage you to further investigate a problem and build on the presented work. This book could serve either as a textbook or as a practical guide. It includes a wide variety of concepts in FVM, result of the efforts of scientists from all over the world. However, just to help you, all book chapters are systemized in three general groups: New techniques and algorithms in FVM; Solution of particular problems through FVM and Application of FVM in medicine and engineering. This book is...

  • Picocyanobacteria are a diverse and widespread group of photosynthetic prokaryotes and belong to the main group of primary producers (Castenholz & Waterbury. 1989; Rippka, 1988). Picoeukaryotes, meanwhile, are a diverse group that is widely distributed in the marine environment, and they have a fundamental role in aquatic ecosystems because of their high productivity. Like bacteria, marine viruses are thought to play important roles in global and small-scale biogeochemical cycling.

  • Linguists, it has to be admitted, are strange animals. They get very excited about things that the rest of the species seem almost blind to and fail to see what all the fuss is about. This wouldn’t be so bad if linguists were an isolated group. But they are not, and what’s more they have to teach non-linguists about their subject. One mistake that linguists often make is to assume that to teach linguistics, students should be instilled...

  • This volume consists of an introduction and two groups of essays by Paul M. Postal, each with a connecting theme. The first, positive group of papers, contains five previously unpublished studies of English syntax. These include a long study of so-called "locative inversion," two investigations related to raising to non-subject status, an argument for the existence of a hitherto ignored nominal grammatical category and a study of vulgar negative polarity items. Each investigation of specific English details is argued to have significant theoretical consequences....

  • The Application Rules page lets you define which applications on the user computer should have access to the network and which should not. You can see the list of the most common network-enabled applications organized in groups by the type of their activity. While applying configuration, Outpost Network Security Client identifies the applications installed on the client computer with those specified in the configuration using the specified matching criteria and, if the match is found, creates the corresponding rules for the application. ...

  • Like other GCC countries, Saudi Arabia, as the world’s largest producer and exporter of oil, has benefitted from increasing oil revenues in recent years. Although Saudi Arabia has not formally established a SWF, its central bank holds a significant amount of international investments outside of traditional foreign reserves, and thus is not reflected on the previous chart. Separately, the Saudi central bank controls an estimated $320 billion in foreign assets, with “additional reserves that are not made public for national security reasons.

  • In this article, the class of R0-matrices is extended to include typically singular matrices, by requiring in addition that the solution x above belongs to a subspace of Rn. This idea is then extended to semidefinite linear complementarity problems, where a characterization is presented for the multplicative transformation.

  • Drug-Receptor Interaction partial charges. When a hydrogen atom bearing a partial positive charge bridges two atoms bearing a partial negative charge, a hydrogen bond is created. A van der Waals’ bond (B) is formed between apolar molecular groups that have come into close proximity. Spontaneous transient distortion of electron clouds (momentary faint dipole, !!) may induce an opposite dipole in the neighboring molecule. The van der Waals’ bond, therefore, is a form of electrostatic attraction, albeit of very low strength (inversely proportional to the seventh power of the distance).

  • In the last 20 years, a number of epidemiological studies have shown that tumor formation and incidence of cardiovascular diseases are inversely related to the intake of fruit and vegetables (Verhoeven et al., 1996). One group of vegetables that has been widely approved for its benefi cial effects on human health are the vegetables from the family Brassicaceae (= Cruciferae). The family Brassicaceae is a large group, having about 3000 species in 350 genera, including several types of edible plants, which are sometimes referred to as “the cabbage family.

  • We obtain lower bounds for Selmer ranks of elliptic curves over dihedral extensions of number fields. Suppose K/k is a quadratic extension of number fields, E is an elliptic curve defined over k, and p is an odd prime. Let K− denote the maximal abelian p-extension of K that is unramified at all primes where E has bad reduction and that is Galois over k with dihedral Galois group (i.e., the generator c of Gal(K/k) acts on Gal(K− /K) by inversion). We prove (under mild hypotheses on p) that if the Zp -rank of the pro-p Selmer group Sp...

  • We develop a framework for displaying the stable homotopy theory of the sphere, at least after localization at the second Morava K-theory K(2). At the prime 3, we write the spectrum LK(2) S 0 as the inverse limit of a tower of hF fibrations with four layers. The successive fibers are of the form E2 where F is a finite subgroup of the Morava stabilizer group and E2 is the second Morava or Lubin-Tate homology theory. We give explicit calculation of the homotopy groups of these fibers.
