  • Soluble flaxseed gum (SFG) extracted at different temperatures (25, 40, and 60 °C) was analyzed in relation to the yield, polysaccharides and phenolics composition, surface charge, color, and rheological properties. The yield of SFG extract increased as the extraction temperature increased.

  • In case of gum extraction, it is generally observed that excessive injury caused due to unscientific methods of tapping and overexploitation lead to death of trees this is very serious issue. In this experiment we are developing sustainable gum tapping techniques without giving any harm to tree.

  • Gum is natural biopolymers and formed via process of gummosis due to biotic and abiotic stresses i.e. injury, infection, drought, heat, high temperature, asby product of metabolic pathway and cannot re-enter in the system. Gum karaya (Sterculia urens Roxb.) is a dry deciduous tree belonging to the family Sterculiaceae distributed throughout India and Chhattisgarh. Karaya gum is the dried exudate obtained from trees of Sterculia species. Karaya gum is predominately used for many industries such as petroleum and gas, textiles, paper and pulp, pharmaceuticals, medicine and several other products.

  • Tamarind seeds are rich source of polysaccharide which is obtained from tamarind seed kernels. Present study was carried to examine the variation in Tamarind Seed Powder (TSP) yield with respect to different seed sources collected from Tamil Nadu (19), Kerala (3), Karnataka (13) and Andhra Pradesh (5). 100 seed weight were measured and seeds were roasted and Kernel and testa content and gum yield were measured. The maximum 100 seed weight was obtained in Aasan and which also recorded in highest gum yield. The percentage yield was about 50 %.

  • The study result revealed that 5 minutes of roasting resulted with the moisture loss of 12% yield 95 % creamy white colour kernels with the viscosity of 13.8 cp 12 % (2.54 g of TSP/20 g TKP) and maximum polysaccharide yield . Although the remaining roasting treatments with more time of roasting gave good decortication efficiency, but resulted with brownish kernel colour and low Tamarind Kernel Powder outturn. The remaining treatments recorded low gum outturn and viscosity when compared to 5 minutes roasting.

  • Cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub] popularly known as “Guar” is an important legume crop mainly grown under rain fed condition in arid and semi-regions of Rajasthan during kharif season. It is very hardy and drought tolerant crop. Its deep penetrating roots enable the plant to utilize available moisture more efficiently and thus offer better scope for rain fed cropping. It has high calorific and nutritive value and its seed contains 28-32% of gum.

  • A study on evaluation of 22 and 17 years old sapota cultivars under AICRP on fruits, KRCCH, Arabhavi, Karnataka. The study revealed that among 22 and 17 years old the cvs. DHS-1 and Cricket Ball (ARSA) showed superior results with respect to growth and yield parameters like canopy volume (305.25 m3, 154.90 m3); fruit weight (139.82 g, 102.83 g); fruit yield (156.25 kg/tree, 111.67 kg/tree); fruit volume was more in DHS-1 and Cricket Ball:Udupi (77.40 ml, 84.07 ml) respectively. Among 22 and 17 years old the pulp to peel ratio was more in cvs. CO-1 and Mohangootee (14.62, 12.

  • The seed cluster bean exhibited significant variations in the seed yield and quality due to spray of growth regulators. At 90 DAS, the highest seed yield per plant was recorded by HG 365. Among the growth regulators, maximum seed yield per plant was recorded by the application of CCC at 1500 ppm which was on par with CCC 1000 ppm. The lowest seed yield per plant was observed by the spray of MC 500 ppm preceded by MC 1000 ppm. The crude gum percentage differed significantly due to spray of growth regulators during kharif and rabi seasons. The maximum crude gum was recorded by HG 365.
