Early onset hypertension among youth has important cardiovascular health implications later in life. Persistent organochlorine pollutants, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and toxic metals have been associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes.

Little is known about the suitability of three commonly used body mass index (BMI) classification systems for Indigenous youth. We estimated overweight and obesity prevalence among Cree youth of Eeyou Istchee according to three BMI classification systems, assessed the level of agreement between them, and evaluated their accuracy through body fat and cardiometabolic risk factors.

implement a comprehensive package of interventions to meet the needs of vulnerable populations. Each country should identify populations vulnerable to HIV or underserved by current HIV programmes in both generalized and concentrated epidemics. The needs of young people and women should explicitly be addressed in national HIV responses. Particular attention should be given to expanding comprehensive combination HIV prevention programmes in communities with generalized epidemics.
