  • Infectious bursal disease, also known as Gumboro disease, is a persistent infection that causes severe economic losses in poultry worldwide. The causative agent, infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), is an immunosuppressive pathogen that frequently mutated and reassorted, generating various genotypes during its evolution.

  • Infectious bursal disease (IBD), also known as Gumboro disease, is a viral infection that causes mortality and immunosuppression in chickens (Gallus gallus). VP2 and VP3 are the major structural viral capsid components and are the most immunogenic proteins of IBD virus (IBDV). Reliable diagnostic tests using VP2 and VP3 produced in heterologous systems are important tools to control this infection.

  • Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) is an economically important and contagious viral disease of poultry. An attempt was made for development of a synthetic peptide based diagnostic reagent. Cell culture adapted viral antigen was prepared by successful passage on CEF and then ultracentrifugation to get partially purified virus. Confirmation of the virus in was done by RT- PCR. The antigen was then used for the production of hyper immune sera in rabbits. Sera samples were also collected from known IBD vaccinated and non-vaccinated birds.

  • Infectious bursal disease is an acute and highly contagious viral disease of mostly young chickens cause by a non-envelope double stranded RNA virus belonging to a family Birnaviridae and is the second considerable threat among infectious poultry diseases. The enormous economic losses associated with the disease is due to high mortality, decreased performance, immune supression that leads to increase susceptibility to other diseases and decrease response to vaccination.

  • A retrospective study was conducted to understand the epidemiology of infectious bursal disease (IBD) in broiler chicken flocks in Haryana state. The epidemiological data related to IBD outbreaks for the period from January 2008 to June 2016 was analyzed. A total of 1368 outbreaks of IBD occurred during this period with overall morbidity, mortality and case fatality rate of 4.19%, 2.61% and 62.34% respectively. The disease was recorded throughout the year with maximum outbreaks in August month and in quarter July to September.

  • Atrial was conducted to investigate the effect of butyric acid on the growth performance and immune response in broiler chicken. 600 day- old broiler chicks were allocated into 4 dietary groups (0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4 % butyric acid) with 6 replicates each. Growth performance parameters viz., weekly body weight, feed intake and feed conversion ratio were recorded. Immune response in terms of antibody titer against New castles disease virus, Infectious bursal disease virus and weight of immune organs on day 21 and 42 were measured.

  • The experiment was conducted to determine the effects of four amino acids (lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan) supplementation on growth performances and serum antibody titers to Gumboro disease (IBD, infectious bursal disease) in broiler chickens. Chicks were randomly assigned to 5 dietary groups (5 chicks/group as 12 replicates of 5 chicks) in a complete randomised experimental design. Group I served as control group, was fed a diet without any supplementation.

  • Live virus vaccines are very important parts of the prevention of Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) in chickens. However, the successful IBD vaccination depends on IBD field pressure, vaccination technique, the immune status of the chicken, and especially IBDV strains used in the vaccines which are able to break through a higher level of maternal-derived antibodies (MDA). The objective of this field study was to compare the efficacy of a new vaccine based on M.B.
