  • We are a group of dedicated material scientists each with 15–25 years of research and development experience in the assembly and interconnect technologies of electronics. Our experience in chemical and mechanical interfacial compatibility between dissimilar materials dates back to the end of the 1980s. Since the early 1990s with the rise of the electronics industry in Finland, we focused our work increasingly into the challenges of materials, assembly technologies and reliability of portable electronics.

  • This paper describes some r e c e n t d e v e l o p m e n t s i n language processing involving computational models which more closely resemble the brain in both structure and function. These models employ a large number of interconnected parallel computational units which communicate via weighted levels of excitation and inhibition. A specific model is described which uses this approach to process some fragments of connected discourse.

  • Nothing is as constant as change, and this is as true in enterprise computing as anywhere else. With the recent release of Java 2 Enterprise Edition 1.4, developers are being called on to add even greater, more complex levels of interconnectivity to their applications.

  • In this paper we present a parser which al lows to make explicit the interconnections between syntax and semantics, to analyze the sentences in a quasi-deterministic fashion and, in many cases, to identify the roles of the various constituents even if the sentance is ill-formed.

  • For example, in the case of a multinational corporation, it might be reason- able to assume a high degree of control and coordination in the administration of the cluster of subnets of the corporation’s intranet. The administrators of this intranet might very well be able to design and manage the whole network of event servers deployed on their subnets, and thus it might be a good idea to adopt a hierarchical architecture within the intranet. Of course, the intranet would connect to other networks outside of the influence of the administrators.

  • Internetworks come in a variety of topologies and levels of complexity—from single-protocol, point-to-point links connecting cross-town campuses, to highly meshed, large-scale wide-area networks (WANs) traversing multiple time zones and international boundaries. The industry trend is toward increasingly complex environments, involving multiple media types, multiple protocols, and often interconnection to “unknown” networks. Unknown networks may be defined as a transit network belonging to a Internet service provider (ISP) or a telco that interconnects your private networks.

  • Since the first edition of this handbook, semiconductor technology has gone through a continued evolution of new devices and materials like never before. Wafer sizes continue to grow with most of the new fabs equipped for 12-inch wafers. The changes are triggered by many considerations: continued need to provide more functions at lower cost; technology features less than 1000 Å requiring new processes, and exponential increase in the number of device elements.

  • Wavelets in Packaging, Interconnects, and EMC In this chapter we will study multiconductor, multilayered transmission lines (MMTL) employing quasi-static, quasi-dynamic, and full-wave analyses. We extract from MMTL the distributed (parasitic) parameters in matrix form of the capacitance [C], inductance [L], resistance [R] and conductance [G], or the [Z ]-parameters, [Y ]-parameters, or more generally the scattering matrix [S].

  • Gerontogeriatric nursing groups knowledge and nursing practices derived from General Nursing, Geriatrics and Gerontology(3). Gerontogeriatric nursing is, in addition, a specific branch of nursing that delivers care to the elderly at all levels of prevention, i.e., from health promotion to rehabilitation. This nomenclature was selected because it is understood as being more comprehensive and adequate(4).

  • Despite the great technological advancement experienced in recent years, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are still used in many applications from the real world and still play a central role in infrastructure of industrial automation. PLC operate in the factory-floor level and are responsible typically for implementing logical control, regulatory control strategies, such as PID and fuzzy-based algorithms, and safety logics. Usually PLC are interconnected with the supervision level through communication network, such as Ethernet networks, in order to work in an integrated form....

  • CCENT has been created to address the need for providing networking professionals with a solid practical understanding of modern TCP/IP networks built with Cisco hardware, and will certify practical skills required for entry-level network support positions. This certification will serve as the base of Cisco's certification pyramid. It is similar in nature to CompTIA's Network+ Certification and represents a tangible first step in earning your CCNA certification.

  • Europe's strength lies in the interconnection of our economies. The single market and the common currency have driven this forward, and the integrated economic policy making at the European level through the European semester is now drawing our economies together as never before. However, the crisis has shown that the single market for financial services can only deliver financial stability, economic growth and jobs if it is matched with a strong single regulatory and supervisory authority at EU level.

  • The Internet consists of loosely interconnected networks of computers located around the world. Computers communicate with each other by exchanging packets according to various protocols. Computers wishing to participate on the Internet need to follow the protocols used by other members of the Internet. The lowest level common protocol used on the Internet is named “Internet Protocol”, often refered to as IP [82]. The addressing mechanism used by IP is similar to phone numbers. All entities that communicate on the Internet must have an IP address....

  • Interconnects networks at the internetwork layer level and routes packets between them. The router must understand the addressing structure associated with the networking protocols it supports and take decisions on whether, or how, to forward packets. Routers are able to select the best transmission paths and optimal packet sizes. The basic routing function is implemented in the IP layer of the TCP/IP protocol stack, so any host or workstation running TCP/IP over more than one interface could, in theory and also with most of today's TCP/IP implementations, forward IP datagrams.
