In this study, a series of Consolidated–Undrained triaxial compression tests were conducted at a constant axial strain rate, with a small unloading and reloading during the monotonic loading to investigate the effect of various densities and curing times on the mechanical properties of Liquefied Stabilized Soil (LSS).

In this paper, the continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) indentation is employed to investigate fatigue mechanical properties of structural steel under cyclic loading. For this purpose, several representative analytical approaches were introduced to estimate the basic mechanical properties including Young’s modulus and indentation hardness from the characteristics of the loading/unloading curves.

The elasto-plastic characteristics of plain concrete are inevitably affected by the loading rate. This paper presents an experimental investigation on the effect of loading rate on flexural behavior of concrete and reinforced concrete (RC) beams, which was carried out with Walter+bai electro-hydraulic servo system.

This study investigated experimental bearing capacity of corroded reinforced concrete beams. Six testing beams were made of concrete having compressive strength of 25 MPa, with the dimensions of 80 x 120 x 1200 mm. They were divided into two groups depending of tension reinforcement ratio.

The small punch test with an application of a relatively small specimen has recently become a reliable material mechanics testing method. In this study, the small punch test is set up based on the conventional mechanical testing machine for SUS304 stainless steel to evaluate the mechanical properties of SUS304 steel at different displacement rates of the punch in quasi-static loading condition in the case of with and without heat treatment.

This thesis deals with the finite element simulation of spot welded joint in crash analysis. Spot welding is a very common joining process in the automotive industry. It is cost effective and it provides a very fast production rate of automotive body components. Despite this advantage, spot welds are very susceptible to various types of loading conditions. Therefore they are prone to failure, if not designed properly, during their service life time. Therefore it is very important to understand the behaviour of spot welds and their failure characteristics.

A major objective of the research presented here is to develop a link between the two approaches by establishing the relationship between the bridge component condition and the capacity and serviceability limits of the structure. A comprehensive review of literature identified methods of predictive modelling of bridge component condition change using different approaches. The review also indicated that a key to the proposed linkage is considering specific degradation mechanisms in predicting bridge deterioration.

To study the effect of washing and dying methods in the quality of nutmeg this experiment was conducted at the Department of Processing Technology and Department of Plantation Crops and Spices, College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara, Thrissur, during 2012-2013. In this study an attempt has been made to develop a suitable washing and drying technique for both mace and nut of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt.). In mace and nut, high microbial load (35x106 cfu/g bacteria, 14x103 cfu/g fungi and 6.

In this study, in-vitro experiments were performed using a total of 24 porcine motion segments. The harvested specimens were assigned to prolong and 2 different cyclic loadings. Both disc deformations and water contents were measured to investigate how the mode and rate of loading affect the response of intervertebral disc.

The flow stress assessment of austenitic-martensitic functionally graded steel under hot compression
In this research, the flow stress of dual layer austenitic-martensitic functionally graded steels (FGSs) under hot deformation loading has been modelled considering the Zener-Hollomon constitutive equations as a function of temperature and strain rate.

This research was carried out to evaluate the effect of organic loading rate to the performance of anaerobic co-digestion digester treating organic fraction of food waste (FW) and sludge waste (SW) from wastewater treatment plant. The experiment was conducted in two runs: Run S50, substrate contained 50 % of FW and 50 % of SW in term of volatile solid (VS) concentration; Run S100 (control run) contained 100 % SW in the influent substrate.

The results show that ultimate strength under static loading can not be used as a quality criterion for zirconium alloys welds. Increased shielding gas flow rate does not allow to protect weld metal totally and contributes to defect formation without using special nozzles. Several types of imperfections of the welds have been found, but the major problem is branching microcracks on the surface of the welds.

I. Introduction An important aspect of nuclear reactor core analysis involves the determination of the optimal coolant flow distribution and pressure drop across the reactor core. On the one hand, higher coolant flow rates will lead to better heat transfer coefficients and higher Critical Heat Flux (CHF) limits. On the other hand, higher flows rates will also in large pressure drops across the reactor core, hence larger required pumping powers and larger dynamic loads on the core components.

INTRODUCTION In the application of industrial servo drives to machines it is important that the drive be large enough to meet all the load torque requirements and be stable. It is necessary to make sure that the servo drive torque rating is large enough to meet the load thrust and acceleration requirements plus the machine friction losses; an organized method to accomplish this is referred to as ‘‘sizing the drive.’’ There are many drive-sizing software programs available from commercial servo drive suppliers.

The article deals with a research on the design and manufacturing of a dynamic balancing machine, using dynamic load sensors and optical one, for calculating the unbalanced mass in thick rotating part on two choosen correction planes. Dynamic load sensors attached to the bearing supports of the machine help us determine the reaction forces generated by the unbalanced mass of the rotor. These load signals are filtered and digitized at a sampling rate which is synchronous to the rotor via an optical sensors.
