INSIDER is an EU Horizon 2020 research project, within the topic NFRP-7 of the EURATOM programme, that aims to develop and validate a new and improved integrated characterization methodology and strategy for the nuclear decommissioning and dismantling operations (D&D) of nuclear power plants, and post-accidental land remediation of nuclear facilities under constrained environments.

Luminescence thermochronology and thermometry can quantify recent changes in rock exhumation rates and rock surface temperatures, but these methods require accurate determination of several kinetic parameters. For K-feldspar thermoluminescence (TL) glow curves, which comprise overlapping signals of different thermal stability, it is challenging to develop measurements that capture these parameter values.

To build trust across many sites (laboratories, regulatory agencies, contract research organizations, chemical producers, and the public), stakeholders will need to agree on validation requirements for particular uses (content in relation to context) as well as how results are to be communicated (data format), and measured (metrics). There is also a need for a global orchestrator, who can exert leadership and inspire voluntary cooperation of diverse organizations to address shared validation goals, to play a key role.

Trends in non-invasive measurements of blood hemoglobin (Hb) may be useful for identifying the need for transfusion in the perioperative period. Methods: Crystalloid fluid (5–20 mL/kg) was administered intravenously or by mouth to 30 volunteers and 33 surgical patients in five non-randomized clinical studies where Hb was measured on 915 occasions by non-invasive (Radical-7™) and invasive methodology. The hemodilution curves were compared by volume kinetic analysis and linear regression, with the slope and scattering of the data as key outcome measures.

Herein, an adsorptive stripping linear sweep voltammetric technique was described to determine spiramycin, a macrolide antibiotic, using a carboxylic multiwalled glassy carbon electrode modified with carbon nanotubes. The main principle of the analytical methodology proposed was based on the preconcentration of spiramycin by open-circuit accumulation of the macrolide onto the modified electrode surface. As a result of the adsorption affinity of spiramycin to the modified surface, the sensitivity of the glassy carbon electrode was significantly increased for the determination of spiramycin.

In this study, the carbon nanotube supported gold, bismuth, and gold-bismuth (Au/MWCNT, Bi/MWCNT, and Au-Bi/ MWCNT) nanocatalysts were prepared with NaBH4 reduction method at varying molar atomic ratio for glucose electrooxidation (GAEO). The synthesized nanocatalysts at different Au: Bi atomic ratios are characterized via x-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and N2 adsorption-desorption.

The methodology for determining changes of altitude, elevation velocity, and reflection coefficient of the elevated inversion layer in the troposphere is examined based on the results of observation of VHF signals on over-the-horizon (OTH) routes. Estimations of the elevation velocity and reflection coefficient of the elevated inversion layers on the results of measuring of the levels of VHF signals in the zone of the near geometric shadow in the middle latitudes and the meteorological sounding data using balloons are obtained.

This paper presents an inverse method for finding quantity of heat sources in high speed spindle. A commercial ANSYS software and Conjugate Gradient optimization method are used to construct the proposed inverse method. Simulations for different number of measurementpoints andlocations are performed. These results show that excellent estimation on heat generation can be obtained through using only two measurement points. The current methodology will provide a useful tool to investigate the complex heat transfer process in the high speed spindle.
