  • Maize (Zea maize) belongs to family (Gramineae). It is the third most important cereal food grain crop in the world followed by rice and wheat. The origin of maize is Mexico in Central America. It contributes about 20 per cent world’s total cereal production. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and maize growers. On the basis of high area under maize crop Malshiras, Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected three tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under maize crop.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the impact of textile dye on the early seedling stage of 3 crops: barley, maize, and wheat. Seeds were imbibed in different concentrations of textile dye for 12 h and were then grown in a controlled growth room for 8 days with a related dye solution.

  • Endophytes are microbes that live within plants such as maize (corn, Zea mays L.) without causing disease. It is generally assumed that most endophytes originate from soil. If this is true, then as humans collected, domesticated, bred and migrated maize globally from its native Mexico, they moved the species away from its native population of endophyte donors.

  • Maize (Zea mays L.) a member of grass family, poaceae (gramineae) having 2n = 2x = 20 chromosomes is one of the most important cereal crops of India. Mexico and Central America are the origin place of this crop. It has more than thirty-two thousand genes in its genome and the size of genome is about 2.3 gigabase. The objective of this study was to evaluate seventy-seven maize genotypes in relation to heritability and genetic advance for fourteen quantitative traits.

  • In contrast, Western Australian dairy farmers have always placed far more importance on including energy and protein into the feed ration. As pasture silage contains no starch, the only source of starch has been in the form of cheap cereal grain included in the feed ration. As the cereal grains are slowly reduced from the ration, due to higher prices, it is necessary to look for alternative sources of starch such as maize, wheat and barley silage that contain high starch levels.

  • In angiosperms, the endosperm plays a crucial placenta-like role in that not only is it necessary for nurturing the embryo, but also regulating embryogenesis through complicated genetic and epigenetic interactions with other seed compartments and is the primary tissue in which genomic imprinting occurs.

  • Molecular genetic markers correspond to highly potent source for the study of plant genomes and the association of inherited phenotypic traits with underneath genetic variation. Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) are most abundant form of molecular genetic marker which represents a single nucleotide difference between two individuals at a defined location. Compare to others SNPs are direct sequence variation which offers the precise nature of the allelic variants among different genotypes. Further, it signify recurrent type of genetic polymorphism with high density genome coverage.
