  • The purpose of this paper is to carry out the abelianization program proposed by Atiyah [1] and Hitchin [9] for the geometric quantization of SU(2) Wess-Zumino-Witten model. Let C be a Riemann surface of genus g. Let Mg be the moduli space of semi-stable rank 2 holomorphic vector bundles on C with trivial determinant. For a positive integer k, let Γ(Mg , Lk ) be the space of holomorphic sections of the k-th tensor product of the determinant line bundle L on Mg . An element of Γ(Mg , Lk ) is called a rank 2 theta function...

  • This paper should be regarded as a sequel to [7]. There it was shown that the geometric Langlands conjecture for GLn follows from a certain vanishing conjecture. The goal of the present paper is to prove this vanishing conjecture. Let X be a smooth projective curve over a ground field k. Let E be an m-dimensional local system on X, and let Bunm be the moduli stack of rank m vector bundles on X.

  • In the first three parts of this series, we considered quadratic, cubic and quartic rings (i.e., rings free of ranks 2, 3, and 4 over Z) respectively, and found that various algebraic structures involving these rings could be completely parametrized by the integer orbits of an appropriate group representation on a vector space. These orbit results are summarized in Table 1.

  • We present a syntactically enriched vector model that supports the computation of contextualized semantic representations in a quasi compositional fashion. It employs a systematic combination of first- and second-order context vectors. We apply our model to two different tasks and show that (i) it substantially outperforms previous work on a paraphrase ranking task, and (ii) achieves promising results on a wordsense similarity task; to our knowledge, it is the first time that an unsupervised method has been applied to this task. ...

  • Correct stress placement is important in text-to-speech systems, in terms of both the overall accuracy and the naturalness of pronunciation. In this paper, we formulate stress assignment as a sequence prediction problem. We represent words as sequences of substrings, and use the substrings as features in a Support Vector Machine (SVM) ranker, which is trained to rank possible stress patterns. The ranking approach facilitates inclusion of arbitrary features over both the input sequence and output stress pattern. ...

  • In this paper, we propose a three-phase multi-attribute ranking approach having as outcomes of the modeling phase what we refer to as net superiority and inferiority indexes. These are defined as bounded differences between the classical superiority and inferiority indexes.

  • In order to treat high-dimensional problems, one has to find data-sparse representations. Starting with a six-dimensional problem, we first introduce the low-rank approximation of matrices. One purpose is the reduction of memory requirements, another advantage is that now vector operations instead of matrix operations can be applied.

  • In this paper, we introduce the indirect association measures of Linking Term Association (LTA), Minimum Weight Association (MWA), and Shared B to C Set Association (SBC), and compare them to Linking Set Association (LSA), concept embeddings vector cosine, Linking Term Count (LTC), and direct co-occurrence vector cosine.

  • It is important to predict the quality of a protein structural model before its native structure is known. The method that can predict the absolute local quality of individual residues in a single protein model is rare, yet particularly needed for using, ranking and refining protein models.

  • We study the impact of syntactic and shallow semantic information in automatic classification of questions and answers and answer re-ranking. We define (a) new tree structures based on shallow semantics encoded in Predicate Argument Structures (PASs) and (b) new kernel functions to exploit the representational power of such structures with Support Vector Machines. Our experiments suggest that syntactic information helps tasks such as question/answer classification and that shallow semantics gives remarkable contribution when a reliable set of PASs can be extracted, e.g. from answers. ...

  • Statistical ranking methods based on centroid vector (profile) extracted from external knowledge have become widely adopted in the top definitional QA systems in TREC 2003 and 2004. In these approaches, terms in the centroid vector are treated as a bag of words based on the independent assumption. To relax this assumption, this paper proposes a novel language model-based answer reranking method to improve the existing bag-ofwords model approach by considering the dependence of the words in the centroid vector. ...
