This thesis examines the capital structure choice of Australian firms with an emphasis on the impact of market timing and liquidity considering 1438 available firms for the period, 1997 to 2005. The relationship between capital structure and its determinants is the main focus of this thesis, with four empirical analyses. These analyses are all conducted within the Baker and Wurgler (2002) and Hovakimian (2006) models with both pooled ordinary least squares (OLS) and fixed effect panel analysis.

The study applies quantitative method on non-balanced panel samples of Vietnamese listed firms which are extracted from the Thomson Reuters database and manually collected from companies’ annual reports. All the regressions are estimated by Generalized Least Squared (GLS) method to fix the heteroscedasticity problem and robusted by Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) for endogeneitity potential.

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation deficiencies are due to genetic defects in enzymes of fatty acidb-oxidation and transport proteins.Genetic defects have been identified in most of the genes where nearly all types of sequence vari-ations (mutation types) have beenassociatedwithdisease. In this paper, we will discuss the effects of the various types of sequence variations encountered and review current know-ledge regarding the genotype–phenotype relationship, espe-cially in patients with acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiencies where sufficient material exists for a meaningful discussion....

All eukaryotic topoisomerase I enzymes are monomeric enzymes, whereas the kinetoplastid family (TrypanosomaandLeishmania) possess an unusual bisubunit topoisomerase I. To determine what happens to the enzyme architecture and catalytic property if the two subunits are fused, and to explore the functional relationship between the two subunits, we describe herein vitro gene fusion of Leishmaniabisubunit topoisomerase I into a single ORF encoding a new monomeric topoisomerase I (LdTOPIL-fus-S).

The employer-employee Relationship: A phenomenological Study of Retention and the Information Technology Worker In University of California data, I find evidence that observable background characteristicsparticularly those describing the composition of the school, rather than the individuals own backgroundare strong predictors of both SAT scores and collegiate performance, and that much of the SATs apparent predictive power derives from its association with these background characteristics.

THE RELATIONSHIP OF CROSS-CULTURAL DIFFRECES TO THE VALUES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS PROFESTIONAL WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT For each (δ , J) combination, I estimated a regression of μ j on x j analogous to those estimated from actual data in Section 1.5, pooling all 5,000 simulated markets and including a fixed effect for each. The resulting estimates of ( ) ( ) ( ) θ δ , J = cov x j ,μ j var x j are displayed in Figure 1.3. The trends identified in Figures 1.1 and 1.2 are again clear. First,...

There are two enumerative theories of maps from curves to curves. Our goal here is to study their relationship. All curves in the paper will be projective over C. The first theory, introduced in the 19th century by Hurwitz, concerns the enumeration of degree d covers, π : C → X, of nonsingular curves X with specified ramification data. In 1902, Hurwitz published a closed formula for the number of covers,

Accumulations of aggregated proteins are a key feature of the pathology of all of the major neurodegenerative diseases. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) was brought into this fold quite recently with the discovery of TDP-43 (TAR DNA binding protein, 43 kDa) inclusions in nearly all ALS cases.

Air travel is continuing to experience the fastest growth among all modes of transport. Increasing total fuel consumption and the potential impacts of aircraft engine emissions on the global atmosphere have motivated the industry, scientific community, and international governments to seek various emissions reduction options. Despite the efforts to understand and mitigate the impacts of aviation emissions, it still remains uncertain whether proposed emissions reduction options are technologically and financially feasible....
