Hydrological models can simulate water balance and predict water behaviors in any catchments; however, accuracy of model always is questioned. Therefore, calibration and validation processes are required for any models to acquire realistic expectations. TETIS model is a conceptual distribution model applied to simulate dynamic of hydrology based on water balance calculation, sediment erosion, and other constituents.

Analysis of ca. 1400 km of multichannel seismic data indicate that the distal part of the Sakarya Canyon within the continental rise is an unstable region with sediment erosion. Fourteen buried debris flows (DB1–DB14), in the stacked form within Plio–Quaternary sediments between 1400 and 1950 m water depth, were observed in the surveyed area. Their run-out distances range from 3.8 to 24.4 km. The largest debris flow DB10 affects ca. 225 km2 surficial area transporting ca. 15 km3 of sediment in S to N direction.

Mangrove plants play a viral role in protecting the coast, retraining erosion. Especially in areas considered the variable wave conditions, complex dynamic conditions such as the coastal region of Hai Phong city. However, due to various reasons, the development/additional planting of mangrove forests in the coastal area of Hai Phong in some locations has not achieved the desired result.

This study demonstrated the prominent role of river meandering in erosion in An Giang province, but the erosion rates of river banks varied largely in time and space because this process is a composition of hydrological and sedimentation alterations due to upstream damming, sand mining, and a tropical cyclone. Hence, the results of this study would meaningfully verify and explain corresponding mechanisms/causes in other related study areas.

Soil erosion is one of the most attentive issues everywhere. The C factor expresses with the impacts of vegetation shelter and ground covers in reducing soil loss. This investigation displays another methodology dependent on Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis (LSMA) of Landsat information to delineate C factor for use in the demonstrating of soil erosion.

Structures within rifting affect syn-rift depositional patterns by creating sites of uplift and erosion, by controlling pathways of sediment transportation, by the accommodation space for sediment deposition and preservation. These resulting from the growth of rifting may yield a tripartite stratigraphy such as fluvial, deep lacustrine and shallow lacustrine.

Soil erosion strongly affects crop yield, undermines the long term productivity of farm land and sustainability of farming system, and poses a major threat to the livelihood of the farmers and rural communities. The United Nations Environmental Program reported that the productivity of soil has reduced and resulting in economically unfeasible cultivation on about 20 million hectare of land each year due to soil erosion and resulting degradation of land.

In harbour, not only has breakwater affected on the reduction of wave height but it also has prevented sedimentation depositing in access channels. Hence, dredging volume each year will be decreased. The content of this paper presents all natural factors that influence deposition-erosion process in access channels, relying on calculating tool MIKE 21 to calculate deposition-erosion volume in each factor. According to the input data, authors calculated the breakwater’s effects on deposition-erosion process in access channel of Dung Quat thermal power plant.

There are three verification cases of the model: verification of the tide-induced current, the wave-induced current and the sediment transportation., The results from the model are good in accordance with the analytical solution. The model is then applied to the coastal zone of Can Gio mangrove forest and Cua Lap estuary (South East of Vietnam). As a result, the trend of sediment accretion and erosion in these two areas are qualitatively in agreement with satellite observation and practical measurement

The accelerated erosion and the sediment outflow from agricultural lands is a serious global problem. Mankind will be facing great challenges in the next few decades. The present study was undertaken to estimate the suspended sediment concentration using Fuzzy Logic (FL), Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Sediment Rating Curve (SRC) models for the Vamsadhara river catchment comprising of 7820 km2 Area, situated between Mahanadi and Godavari river basins in south India.

While construction of the Aswan High Dam (AHD) has stopped concurrent flooding events, River Nile is still subject to low intensity flood waves resulting from controlled release of water from the dam reservoir. Analysis of flow released from New Naga-Hammadi Barrage, which is located at 3460 km downstream AHD indicated an increase in magnitude of flood released from the barrage in the past 10 years. A 2D numerical mobile bed model is utilized to investigate the possible morphological changes in the downstream of Naga-Hammadi Barrage from possible higher flood releases.

The erosion/incision patterns of radiometrically well-constrained volcanic rocks provide excellent markers for revealing the landscape evolution. The Central Anatolian High Plateau represents an uplifted area that reaches up to 1500 m above sea level and includes the Cappadocian Volcanic Province (CVP). The CVP is composed of horizontally emplaced Neogene–Quaternary ignimbrites intercalated with lava flows and epiclastic continental sediments.

In recent decades, unsustainable use of resources and the implementation of dams upstream accompanied with sea level rise acceleration has led to an extreme mangrove depletion, increase of coastal vulnerability in the Mekong delta. Extensive shrimp culture, where mangrove forest have been turned into aquaculture ponds are adding to the problem. The aim was to assess the current situation and find solutions which go in hand with the Building with Nature (BwN) concept for two selected locations along the Vinh Chau coast.

Hydraulic properties of soils and soil erodibility are expected to vary after rainfall because of the impact energy of raindrops. Resistance both to rainfall detachment and to runoff detachment might differ after rainfall, and temporal changes in soil erodibility take place.

Significant errors when sampling from collection tanks installed at the lower end of soil erosion plots may lead researchers toward wrong conclusions. Limited research has been found on sampling accuracy. In this study, a cylindrical sampler is introduced as a new sampling device and its sampling accuracy is investigated and compared with 2 other manual methods, namely bottle and pipette.

This paper presents characteristics of grain-size parameters of the surface sediments in order to interpret the sediment-transport pattern and the linkage to coastal erosion and deposition off the Mekong River delta. Surface sediments collected in the coastal water of Mekong River delta (as far south as Ca Mau Peninsula) were analyzed to determine the grain-size distribution and sediment transports in subaqueous Mekong delta.
