Germline disease-causing variants are generally more spatially clustered in protein 3-dimensional structures than benign variants. Motivated by this tendency, we develop a fast and powerful protein-structure-based scan (PSCAN) approach for evaluating gene-level associations with complex disease and detecting signal variants.

Tuberculosis remains a serious public health concern globally. The enormous social, economic, and health impacts of the diseases are attributed to the lack of updated data on the prevalence, geospatial distribution, population structures, and genotypic variants of the circulating M. tuberculosis.

The field experiment was conducted at the Department of Plant Pathology SHUATS during the rabi season, to investigate the “Effect of intercropping on purple blotch (Alternaria porri) of onion (Allium cepa L.)” a legume intercrops evaluated were. Chickpea (Cicer arientinum), pea (Pisum sativum), lentil (Lens esculantum), french bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), the efficacy of the legume intercrops in reducing the foliar disease was compared to a fungicide carbendazim (0.1%).

Dental X-ray image segmentation is a necessary and important process in medical diagnosis, which assists clinicians to make decisions about possible dental diseases of a patient from a dental X-ray image. It is a multi-objective optimization problem which involves basic components of fuzzy clustering, spatial structures of a dental image, and additional information of experts expressed through a pre-defined membership matrix.

Sarcoidosis is one of the best-known systemic granulomatous diseases. Despite intensive investigation, however, the etiology of sarcoidosis has remained unresolved for more than 100 years [1]. Sarcoidosis seems to result from the exposure of a genetically susceptible subject to an environmental agent, and microbial etiologies of sarcoidosis have long been considered based on the clinical similarities to infectious granulomatous diseases [2].

The first rudimentary notion of what can be called risk, may have arisen, according to Covello and Munpower (1985), around 3200 BC in the valley between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, where lived a group called “Asipu”. A major function of this group was to help people who needed to make difficult decisions. The “Asipus”, when sought, identified the scale of the problem, the alternatives and the consequences of each alternative. Then, they drew up a table, marking the positive and negative points of each alternative to indicate the best decision....
