  • Strategic Corporate Finance provides a ‘‘real-world’’ application of the principles of modern corporate finance, with a practical, investment banking advisory perspective. Building on 15 years of corporate finance advisory experience, this book serves to bridge the chronic gap between corporate finance theory and practice. Topics range from weighted average cost of capital, value-based management and M&A, to optimal capital structure, risk management and dividend/buyback policy.

  • Conformational analysis of angiotensin I (AI) and II (AII) peptides has been performed through 2D 1 H-NMRspectro-scopy in dimethylsulfoxide and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol/H2 O. The solution structural models of AI and AII have been determined in dimethylsulfoxide using NOE distance and 3 JHNHacoupling constants. Finally, theAI family of models resulting from restrained energy minimization (REM) refinement, exhibits pairwise rmsd values for the family ensemble 0.26 ± 0.13 A ˚,1.05 ± 0.23 A ˚, for backbone and heavy atoms, respectively, and the distance penalty function is calculated at 0.

  • This paper describes a structure-sharing method for the representation of complex phrase types in a parser for PATR-[I, a unification-based g r a m m a r formalism. In parsers for unification-based grammar formalisms, complex phrase types are derived by incremental refinement of rite phrase types defined in grammar rules and lexical entries. In a naive implementation, a new phrase type is built by copying older ones and then combining the copies according to the constraints stated in a grammar rule. ...

  • In recent years large amounts of electronic texts have become available providing a new base for empirical studies in linguistics and offering a chance to linguists to compare their theories with large amounts of utterances from "the real world". While tagging with morphosyntactic categories has become a standard for almost all corpora, more and more of them are nowadays annotated with refined syntactic information. Examples are the Penn Treebank (Marcus et al.

  • Problem Description Your job will be to analyze various components of a mountain bicycle. We will start with the pedal. Let’s assume a 200 lb person riding this bike is standing, balanced evenly on each pedal. Material (Steel) properties as specified below. Use a rough analysis to determine where the high stress areas exist that will require additional mesh refinement.

  • In contrast to our previous study (Barth & Marx, 2008) dealing with a currently decreasing research field (high-temperature superconductors) we analyzed here a topic which has raised a strongly increasing interest among researchers: research activities around carbon nanotubes (CNTs or NTs). Carbon nanotubes (often named only nanotubes) are graphite sheets rolled up into cylinders with diameters of the order of a few nanometers and up to some millimeters in length with at least one end capped with a hemisphere of the fullerene structure....

  • Nanotechnology has experienced a rapid growth in the past decade, mostly because of the rapid advances in nano-fabrication techniques employed to fabricate the nanodevices. Nano-fabrication can be divided into two categories: the first is the so-called “bottom up” approach, in which nano-structures are created either by chemical synthesis of nano-wires, nanotubes and nano-particles, or by self-assembly of nano-objects or thin layers to form quasi-periodic arrays or phase separation patterns....

  • Abstract X-ray crystal structure determination of agglutinin from abrus precatorius in Taiwan is presented. The crystal structure of agglutinin, a type II ribosome-inactivating protein (RIP) from the seeds of Abrus precatorius in Taiwan, has been determined from a novel crystalline form by the molecular replacement method using the coordinates of abrin-a as the template. The structure has space group P41212 with Z = 8, and been refined at 2.6 Å to R-factor of 20.4%. The rootmean-square deviations of bond lengths and angles from the standard values are 0.009 Å and 1.3°.
