Technical clam

This paper presents the results of water quality assessment of clam farming areas for 3 monitoring points in Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province. From the results of the assessment, this study suggests management measures, including improving water quality index used to zoning water quality, thus better managing clam areas; and technical measure which improves farming techniques to protect the aquatic environment of farmers.

They clam approximately 500 species, widely distributed in coastal intertidal zone of tropical temperate countries. Our country has about 40 species of 7 breed groups, distributed along the coast from north to south. Northern coastal areas have clam oil (Meretrix lime), clam password (Meretrix llusoria Rumplius). Southern coastal areas have clam (Meretrix lyrata Sowerby). Clams are mollusks team has great potential in the tide country. Culture technique is not complicated, short cycle, investment less valuable export.

A modern hatchery for clams (M. lyrata) spat production has been established at the Aquaculture Research Institute of the North Central Division (ARSINC) with all necessary infrastructure. A lot of the success of oyster spats have been produced using these facilities. Hatcheries can be used for commercial production of both controversy and research and development.
