  • The aim of the study was to establish the role of external auditors in corporate failure in the banking sector. The study discovered that the auditing gaps within banks are tangibility and empathy services. It was also revealed that remuneration, training of external auditors, lot of variety in their job, level of logistics, loyalty rate of external auditors, motivational package and improved salary and opinion counts in the organisation were the factors influencing the effectiveness of external auditors.

  • The objectives of this paper are, first, to estimate the long-run cost of equity capital for the banking sector using data from the Eurozone, US, UK, Sweden and Switzerland for the period 1999-2014. Our inference differs from that of previous studies because we employ a dynamic panel GMM model with a fixed effect and a multi-factor asset pricing framework to explain the variation of the cost of equity capital across banks in terms of risk-factors including, bank size, leverage, business cycle and regulations.

  • Viet Nam banking sector had experienced an expansion and strong growth during the period of 1997 to 2007, supportive to a rapid growth of the economy. Many new licenses provided for the establishment of financial institutions, together with a wave of converting rural joint stock banks into urban joint stock banks and the requiredincrease for banks’ owner capital.   • This paper aims to assess and compare the impact of geopolitical risk (GPR) on the banking sector profitability of “oil and nonoil dependent” emerging markets. For empirical estimation, we used annual macro-level data of all the countries listed in the GPR index from the period 1998 to 2017. The results of the fixed effect model indicate a negative significant impact of GPR on banking sectors’ profitability.
