  • Porcine heart cytoplasmic malate dehydrogenase (s-MDH) is a dimeric protein (2 · 35 kDa). We have studied equilibrium unfolding and refolding of s-MDH using activity assay, fluorescence, far-UV and near-UV circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, hydrophobic probe-1-anilino8-napthalene sulfonic acid binding, dynamic light scattering, and chromatographic (HPLC) techniques. The unfolding and refolding transitions are reversible and show the presence of two equilibrium intermediate states.

  • Liposomal amphotericin B were prepared by thin film hydration technique. Particle size was reduced by ultrasonic device and high pressure homogeneous device. The size distribution was determined by dynamic light scattering by the Zetasizer ZS90 equipment. The morphology of amphotericin B liposomes was observed by Transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) with negative staining technique. The result shows that combining high-pressure homogenization and membrane extrusion provided monolayer liposomal amphotericin B with particle size less than 200 nm and homogenously (PDI < 0.3).

  • Callophyllum inophyllum oil, also known as Tamanu oil, is reported to treat a wide range of skin problems such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, herpes, hemorrhoids, and injuries caused due to wounds, among others. Liposomes, which are effective carriers for topical treatment of dermal diseases, could enhance the therapeutic efficiency of Tamanu oil. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to formulate and characterize liposomes loading Tamanu oil. Liposomes encapsulating Tamanu oil with different ratios of Phospholipon 90G and L-α-lecithin were prepared using the thin-film hydration technique.

  • Silica nanoparticles were synthesized efficiently and effectively from rice husk and characterized by various analytical techniques. The highest percentage (89.28 ± 0.03 %) yield of silica synthesized from rice husk ash burnt at 700 ºC for 2 h. Dynamic light scattering analysis data of silica nanoparticles (SNPs) showed that the average particles diameter 93.14 nm with hydrophilic nature.
