The impact of environmental pollution
-
This book aims to strengthen the knowledge base dealing with Air Pollution. The book consists of 21 chapters dealing with Air Pollution and its effects in the fields of Health, Environment, Economy and Agricultural Sources. It is divided into four sections. The first one deals with effect of air pollution on health and human body organs. The second section includes the Impact of air pollution on plants and agricultural sources and methods of resistance. The third section includes environmental changes, geographic and climatic conditions due to air pollution....

This is a pioneer study investigating the relationship between environmental compliance and TFP convergence for SMEs. It examines the impacts of environmental compliance, and its combination with innovation, on TFP convergence of manufacturing SMEs. We applied the dynamic panel regression method to estimate stochastic TFP. We find evidence of a β-convergence but a σ-divergence. Impacts of environmental practices of firms—pollution abatement and control expenditure, and environmental treatment—are only significant through their interaction with innovation.

How are pollutants transformed after their release into the environment? How are organisms exposed, and how do physiological alterations impact population dynamics and community structure? What direct or indirect impacts occur? As early as the 50s and 60s people living near industrial plants began to recognize undesirable changes in their environment - and to ask these very questions. The discipline of environmental toxicology addresses these questions.

Air pollution does not only damage the air; it also damages environments on Earth’s surface and their inhabitants. Plants and animals are harmed by air pollution. Sometimes it is the pollutants themselves that cause damage. Other times pollutants combine and change the resources that plants and animals depend upon such as water, soil, and nutrients. The impacts of air pollution are diverse and numerous. Air pollution can have serious consequences for the health of human beings, and also severely affects natural ecosystems.

The hydrodynamic and water quality models (the Delft3D model) were established based on the measured data and the estimated pollution discharges from Dinh Vu industrial zones to Nam Trieu estuary. With seven separate simulation scenarios, the results show that in case of increased wastewater with the control of pollution discharge (water and concentration), the impact of pollution is only limited to a small area around the discharge point. Their influences on water quality in other areas in Nam Trieu estuary are quite small.

Analysis of samples which were taken at Yangshan port in China in 2011, 2012 to assess the level of heavy metal pollution of heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbon with two main purposes; the first is to evaluate the main pollutants and their pollution level; the second is to evaluate the impact of operations on the port to environmental quality. The application of Grey clustering model to assess heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons shows that the heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons in sea water at Yangshan Port was at grade I.

Air pollution is a leading environmental threat to the health of urban populations overall and specifically to New York City residents. Clean air laws and regulations have improved the air quality in New York and most other large cities, but several pollutants in the city’s air are at levels that are harmful. This report provides estimates of the toll of air pollution on the health of New Yorkers. It focuses on 2 common air pollutants—fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone (O3).

Alexandria Governorate contracted an international company in the field of municipal solid waste management for the collection, transport and disposal of municipal solid waste. Construction and operation of the sanitary landfill sites were also included in the contract for the safe final disposal of solid waste. To evaluate the environmental impacts associated with solid waste landfilling, leachate and groundwater quality near the landfills were analyzed.

The Waeriuapa is the main river in the Wae Riuapa watershed which is widely used for agricultural irrigation, fishery cultivation ponds and domestic needs such as bathing and washing. As a flowing open-water ecosystem, the Riuapa river receives external disposals starting from upstream to downstream in the form of domestic waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste and from natural disasters such as erosion and landslides.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of natural resources, renewable energy, and economic growth on carbon dioxide (CO2 ) emission in Malaysia. Due to the increase in industrialization the state of Malaysia faces significant problems such as environmental pollution. In this study time series data has been used and the ARIMA equation has been used by the researcher in this study. The researcher collected the data from the year 1988 to 2017.

This study pores over the significance of Fiscal policy and monetary policy that’s describe the effects on environmental issues. With the help of multiple linearregression, we found out the result that clearly explains the impact of fiscal and monetary policy on environmental issues like CO2 emission. We have used three variables, i.e., GDP, exchange rate, and interest rate with CO2 emission.

Human activities have a large and important impact on the environment. Naturally occurring elements or compounds are often concentrated and redistributed in the environment through industrial processes, power production, and consumer activity. For example, lead, which is found in naturally occurring mineral deposits, has become a major pollutant through its use in batteries, paints, and gasoline additives.

Because of the potential public health implications, the importance of toxic air pollutants in ambient air has been recognized to some degree for many years. Efforts to “regulate” human activities resulting in the production of ambient air pollutants probably date back many centuries, even as the combustion of fossil fuels and air pollution from other organized human activities began having a noticeable impact on the environment.

Honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) are the main pollinating agents for numerous plants and fruit trees and, hence, play a key role in agriculture and more generally in the maintenance of ecological biodiversity. Although these social insects are not the targets of all the different agrochemical treatments used in crop protection, they are widely affected by pesticides.

Environmental toxicology is the study of the impacts of pollutants upon the structure and function of ecological systems. For the purposes of this text, the emphasis will be upon ecological structures, from the molecular to the individual organism to the community and the ecosystem. The broad scope of environmental toxicology requires a multidisciplinary approach of a variety of specialists.

The state of aquatic ecosystems reflects the general state of the biosphere. The situation in the biosphere affected by anthropogenic factors was characterized as “a slow explosion” (Fedorov 1987). The global change in the biosphere and climatic system of the Earth is a manifestation of this “slow explosion” (World Resources 1990–1991, Izrael et al. 1992).
