  • We present a web service for natural language parsing, prediction, generation, and translation using grammars in Portable Grammar Format (PGF), the target format of the Grammatical Framework (GF) grammar compiler. The web service implementation is open source, works with any PGF grammar, and with any web server that supports FastCGI. The service exposes a simple interface which makes it possible to use it for interactive natural language web applications. We describe the functionality and interface of the web service, and demonstrate several applications built on top of it. ...

  • This paper introduces a method using smart filter for network traffics to reduce bandwidth DDoS attacks. The key point of the method is the use of dynamic thresholds evaluated unusual access from zombie computers as well as an active queue mechanism to aid the process of the legitimate users’ traffic. The results showed that service clusters can sustain DDoS attacks with the performance of legitimate access is much better and consequently to cause the attacker to increase his botnet size as much as possible or costs much more to compensate for the filter installed.

Since a session using a dedicated server is guaranteed to use the same process for every database call, the Process Global Area is used for session specific memory and object allocations. This means that some of the objects and resources that used to be reclaimed at the end of each call can now live across calls.

  • For many students the concept of a virtual Web Service will not be intuitive. Explain that this section is important because it is unlikely that owners of most of the data on the Internet will ever provide access to their data through Web Services. However, making this data accessible to clients through a Web Service is a useful paradigm. Because consumers interact with a Web Service through a proxy class, if the proxy class simply retrieves the raw data and the parses the data locally, the consumer need not be aware that the processing takes place on the client and not on the server.

  • The forward process makes use of the information contained in the hypothesis A. The backward process tries to find a chain of statements leading to the fact that the conclusion B is true. With the backward process, you start with the statement B that you are trying to conclude is true. By asking and answering key questions, you derive a sequence of new statements with the property that if the sequence of new statements is true, then B is true.
