  • The present study entitled “Genetic Divergence in Black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper]” was conducted with 56 genotypes and two checks namely Pant U-31 and Pratap Urd-1during Kharif- 2019 at the Experimental farm, RCA, MPUAT, Udaipur. The genotypes were planted in augmented RBD design in four blocks. Mean squares due to genotypes were significant for plant height, number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant and pod length out of twelve characters as divulge from ANOVA.

  • The present investigation was carried out to study the correlation and path analysis in two crosses namely ADT 43 x FR13A (Cross 1) and Improved White Ponni x FR13A (Cross 2) were evaluated under low land submerged field condition at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India during 2015 for the study of character association between yield and yield components under submerged condition where the water depth was more than 30 cm at least for two weeks at the vegetative stage of crop.

  • The present investigation was carried out to study the extent of variability existed in the sesamum varieties namely TMV 4, TMV 7, VRI 2, Thilak and TNY Local after induction of mutation through chemical mutagens namely EMS. The results of M1 generation revealed that there was a shift in the mean for the characters Viz., Days to first flowering, Plant height, Number of branches per plant, Number of capsules per plant, Length of capsule, Number of seeds per capsule, Seed yield per plant, 1000-seed weight and Oil content towards positive /negative directions.

  • The study was conducted at Department of Horticulture, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu during September 2013 to August 2016 to study the performance of genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation and path analysis for yield and yield attributing characters namely first female flower node, days taken for first female flowering, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit weight (g), fruit yield per plant (kg) of twenty ridge gourd genotypes collected from different parts of Tamil Nadu.

  • Genetic diversity analysis through cluster were performed in 62 mutant lines of black gram inclusive two checks namely Indira Urd Pratham and KU 96-3. In cluster analysis, the 62 genotypes were grouped into 5 cluster for 13 quantitative yield related characters. In study there were 27 mutant lines in cluster I, 32 in cluster II, 1 in cluster III, 1 in cluster IV and 1 in cluster V. The maximum inter cluster distance were obtained between cluster V and cluster III (69.94), which is followed by cluster V and cluster I (63.86). The inter cluster value varied from a range of 69.94 to 8.74.

  • For the establishment of the distinctness among 31 accessions of Oryza glaberrima, eight morphological traits following Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability test (DUS) studied. Out of 31 accessions studied, two accessions viz., EC861804, EC861805 were found to be highly distinct as they possessed distinct traits namely purple split ligule, medium green leaves, erect flag leaf, presence of awn along with lodging tolerance indicating their usefulness as donors for crop improvement programmes. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences for all the characters studied.

  • A field trail in a complete Randomized Design was conducted at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal during 2010-2011 to assess the growth, flowering, fruiting, yield and quality of tamarind of five varieties namely PKM-1, Urigam, Vantoor, Red and Sweet. The results indicated superiority of variety PKM-1 with plant height (445.33- 569 cm), East-west canopy expansion (458.67- 604.00 cm), number of fruit retention panicle-1 (44.33%), TSS (480 Brix), total sugar (40.33 g) with lower acidity (6.7 mg).

  • An experiment was conducted at Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi during the year 2015-16. Eight genotypes namely Shringar, Prajwal, Suvasini, Pearl Double, Calcutta Single, Mexican Single, Vaibhav and Arka Nirantara were used for the evaluation study. All the genotypes registered significant effect on growth and flowering.

  • An investigation was carried out with 42 genotypes of rice to study the nature and magnitude of genetic divergence using Mahalanobis D2 statistics. Based on 12 morphological quantitative and quality characters namely, days to 50 per cent flowering, plant height, number of productive tillers per plant, panicle length, hundred grain weight, grain length, grain breadth, grain L/B ratio, kernel length, kernel breadth, kernel L/B ratio and grain yield per plant, these genotypes were grouped into six clusters.

  • Six genotypes as lines and two genotypes as testers of ricebean were studies in line x tester analysis. The study revealed that the gene action involved in controlling characters namely, days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, branches per plant, pods per plant, clusters per plant, pods per cluster, seeds per pod and yield per plant was nonadditive gene action while two traits namely, 100-seed weight and pod length was under the control of additive gene action.

  • An investigation was carried out in the BC4F4 generation with 95 plants for studying variability, correlation and path analysis. Low PCV and GCV values were recorded for the characters namely, days to fifty percent flowering, plant height, panicle length, number of productive tillers, grain length, grain width and hundred seed weight. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was observed for plant height, panicle length, number of productive tillers, grain width, seeds per panicle.

  • A field experiment was carried out with 28 yam bean germplasm along with 2 released variety namely Rajendra Misrikand-1(RM-1) and Rajendra Misrikand-2 (RM-2) laid out in a Randomised Block Design (RBD) with all recommended agronomic practices during kharif – 2017 and these genotypes have been studied for twelve different characters in association between seed and tuber yield and yield components. Tuber weight showed significant and positive correlation with tuber yield. Pods per plant and pod weight per plant exhibited significant and positive correlation with seed yield.

  • A field experiment was carried out, with a view to study the Response of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) to foliar application of silicon at Vegetable Research Scheme, Regional Horticultural Research Station of the Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat, India between 2015 to 2017 during summer season. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with three repetitions.   • The study herein determines the available variability among the unexplored common bean germplasm based on morphological parameters. The collection of one hundred and thirty five genotypes was done and the experimental data for nine phenotypic yield attributing traits was recorded in the experimental field of SKUAST Jammu, Main Campus, Chatha for the two years.   • The present investigation was undertaken with a view to generate genetic information on gene effects for 14 quantitative traits in brinjal through generation mean analysis. The experimental material consists of six generations, namely P1, P2, F1, F2, B1 and B2 of four crosses in brinjal viz., AB-15-07 x GJLB-4 (cross 1), JBR-14-07 x Pant Rituraj (cross 2), NSR-01 x Swarnmani Black (cross 3) and NBR-14-05 x GJB-03 (cross 4). The results indicated that the magnitude and type of gene effects differed for the same trait in different cross combinations.
