- Sounds: /θ/ and /ð/; /e/ and /æ/; /əʊ/, /aʊ/
II. Grammar:
1. Question words.
- Who (ai)
- What (cái gì)

- How (như thế nào, bằng cách nào)
- How long (dài bao nhiêu, bao lâu)

* Chú ý khi thêm đuôi “-ed” vào sau động từ.
+ Động từ tận cùng là “e” => ta chỉ cần cộng thêm “d”.
Ví dụ: type – typed, smile – smiled, agree – agreed,…
+ Động từ có MỘT âm tiết, tận cùng là MỘT phụ âm, trước phụ âm là MỘT nguyên âm -> ta
nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ed”.
Ví dụ: stop – stopped, shop – shopped, tap – tapped,…
+ Động từ tận cùng là “y”:
- Nếu trước “y” là MỘT nguyên âm (a,e,i,o,u) ta cộng thêm “ed”.

Ví dụ: play – played, stay – stayed,…
- Nếu trước “y” là phụ âm (còn lại ) ta đổi “y” thành “i + ed”.
Ví dụ: study – studied, cry – cried,…
b. Một số động từ bất quy tắc không thêm “ed”.
Có một số động từ khi sử dụng ở thì quá khứ không theo qui tắc thêm “ed”. Những động từ này
ta cần học thuộc. Ví dụ: go – went, have – had, see – saw,…
b. Use
Dùng để diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc hoàn toàn trong quá khứ.
c. Signals
- yesterday (hôm qua); last night (tối hôm qua)
- last + week/ month/ year: tuần/ tháng/ năm vừa rồi
- Khoảng thời gian + ago (cách đây ...): two days ago (cách đây 2 ngày), three years
- In + năm: in 2000 (năm 2000)
4. Imperatives
Example: Stand up!
Don’t play cards at school!
5. Possessive adjectives and Possessive pronouns.

Exercise 8-A: Read the following passage and choose the correct answer
Tokyo is the capital of Japan. In Tokyo, there are always too many people in the place where
you want to come. People are very polite even when they often spend a long time on traffic
jams. Tokyo is different from London when you want to walk to a place.
During the day, most people travel to work by train. Tokyo people buy six million train tickets
every day. Although they are usually crowded, Japanese trains are very good. They always leave
and arrive on time. On a London train, everybody in a seat seems to be asleep whether the
journey is long or short.
The worst time to be in the street at night is about 11.30 when the nightclubs are closing and
everybody wants to go home.
