II. INFINITIVE AND GERUND
1.TO-INFINITIVE: V +(O)+ TO-INF
- Indicating the purpose or intention of an action e.g. She learns English to go to the USA
- As a subject of a verb, ADJ e.g. To know how to drive is useful
e.g. It is useful to know how to drive
- As an object of a verb: want, decide, expect e.g. She wants to dance
- in idiomatic expressions: too + adj/adv (for s.o)+to inf e.g. The wall is too high for me to
climb

-As an adverb to modify an adjective e.g. I’m very glad to see you

III. REPORTED SPEECH WITH GERUND

V. CONDITIONAL IN REPORTED SPEECH
e.g : 1.“If I have a lot of money, I’ll build houses for the poor.”, John said.

2. “ If today were Sunday, we wouldn’t go to school” they said to me.
=> They told me if that day were Sunday, they wouldn’t go to school.
Note:
Conditional sentences type 2 and 3 can be the same in tenses in reported speech.
VI. INDEFINITE PRONOUNS
