Many people enjoy living in a big city because they think life is more exciting there. However, I come from a small village and in my view, there are lots of benefits. The main reason I prefer village life is because it’s very quiet, so 1 always feel calm when I’m here. Another reason is that the air is so fresh and clean. We have more green spaces and bigger gardens, too. In addition, I think the people here are friendlier. Personally, I’m interested in wildlife photography, so the countryside is perfect for me.

The only downside is transport. I have an early start for a long journey to school in Faro and the school bus is always stopping to pick up more people. Also, it’s boring sometimes, but I enjoy chatting to my friends. Fortunately, I’m learning to ride a moped. On balance, I disagree that city life is better, as I think my village lifestyle is healthier and more relaxing. In spite of that, some of my friends couldn’t cope with life in the country, so it comes down to personal opinion.

sweaters. I remember last year I had to find a birthday present for my dad. Then I thought of

knitting a sweater for him. I searched the Internet for a day, and finally I found the pattern that

came with a YouTube video showing me how to make a sweater. It took me a week to finish

The best thing aboutknitting is that it makes you be more careful and patient. Sometimes you

drop stitches or hold the wool too tight, so you need to continually practise. My grandma says

knitting is magical because you can create anything you want with just wool and a pair of

needles. I love knitting!

V. WRITING 1. Write a paragraphabout your favorite leisure activity.

7

In my opinion, listening to music not only helps me relax but also provide me with musical knowledge. I also like the time that I can lie lazily in bed, put on the small earphone with my iPod and enjoy any favorite song of many kinds of music: pop, hip-hop, roc or jazz. I like pop music when I am sad and after that I feel cheerful and happy. As I have noted music from other

countries is also good for teenagers to understand other cultures. I think that, the lyrics are easy to understand and interesting. Besides, it can improve my English and listening skills. In addition, music is an important part of my life and it helps me love my life more.

2. Write a paragraph about what you like about life in the countryside.

There are some things I like about life in the countryside. One of the main attractions is its peacefulness. This helps people living there feel comfortable and relaxed. Additionally, I enjoy its natural beauty. The countryside often offers picturesque views of rolling hills, rolling meadows, and vast green fields. This can be a great source of inspiration. Finally, I appreciate the strong sense of community in rural areas. Rural people are very tight-knit and always willing to help their neighbours. Overall, these are just some of the many things I enjoy about rural life.

3.Write a paragraphabout how your classmates should deal with stress.

8

My classmate looks tired recently because she is suffering from stress. She should do several things to deal with this situation. First, she should turn off her computer and smartphone because these things cause her headaches and makes her tired. Second, she should go to bed early to get enough sleep. If she lacks enough sleep, she will fall ill quickly. Third, she should talk with her friends and teachers about her problems and receive some good advice. Or at least she will feel relieved. Another thing she should do is to do more exercise to live a healthy life. Last, if a classmate annoys her, she can avoid talking to that person. She should also talk to her teachers or her parents about this annoying classmate.
