HEAT TRANSFER
EQUIPMENTS

Classification
Recuperative / Regenerative
Transport: Direct / Indirect
Geometry: Tube / Plate / Extended
Phase: Single / Phase change
Fluid arrangement: Parallel / Counter / Cross

Three main types of heat exchangers:
In recuperative heat exchangers, the heat is
transferred from one fluid to the other through
a dividing wall.
In regenerative heat exchangers, heat is
transferred via a moving solid part, (a rotating
wheel with a large number of narrow channels).
In evaporative heat exchangers, hot water is
cooled by partly evaporating the water.
