ABSTRACT
Most of our country's cinnamon growing and exploiting industry [1] is in the northern mountainous regions - where
science and technology are not yet developed. So the cinnamon industry's request is for an improved equipment to assist
people in harvesting cinnamon bark more easily. And this project of designing a cinnamon peeling machine [2] will help
make that a reality by analyzing available machine models on the market, researching the operation and structure of the
machine, and from there propose plans to improve the machine and perform calculations, assembly and simulation of the
machine on software.

TÓM TẮT
Phần lớn ngành công nghiệp trồng và khai thác quế [1] của nước ta ở các tình miền núi phía bắc - nơi còn chưa phát
triển về khoa học kĩ thuật. Vậy nên yêu cầu của ngành quế là cần một thiết bị cải tiến để hỗ trợ người dân trong việc thu
hoạch vỏ quế dễ dàng hơn. Và đề tài thiết kế máy bóc tách vỏ quế [2] này sẽ giúp cho điều đó trở thành hiện thực bằng
cách phân tích các mẫu máy sẵn có trên thị trường, nghiên cứu về cách hoạt động và cấu trúc của máy, từ đó đưa ra các
phương án cải tiến máy và thực hiện tính toán, lắp ghép và mô phỏng máy trên phần mềm.

1. INTRODUCTION
The cinnamon growing and exploiting industry [1] is
rapidly expanding. Especially in the northern mountainous
provinces of our country. Currently on the market there are
several models. But basically these machines are still quite
primitive, lacking many necessary functions such as reverse
gear [2], emergency stop switch [3]... and in fact there have
been many occupational accidents that have occurred.

Apply knowledge learned about mechanical engineering
and rely on available machine models on the market.
Analyze the structure and operating principles of the
machine. Since then, the new machine has been improved,
adding a number of functions to the machine such as:
reverse gear, emergency stop switch, 2-speed gearbox, 2
working roller ranges... to increase productivity and ensure
user safety.
2. DESIGN AND CALCULATION
a) Movements
Movement starts from the motor [4], through the belt
drive [5] to shaft 1, causing shaft one to rotate. 2 small gears
are fixed to shaft 1 with a flat key and these 2 gears always
mesh with 2 large gears on shaft 2. Motion will be
transmitted from shaft 1 to shaft 2 thanks to these 2 pairs of
gears but 2 The large gear on shaft 2 is not fixed to the shaft
but is loosely mounted (smoothly rotating on shaft 2). If you
want motion to be transmitted through shaft 2, you must
rely on a lug clutch [6]. The lug clutch between the 2 gears
of shaft 2, whichever side the gear is pushed to, will
transmit the transmission ratio of that gear pair (fast - slow).
The motion continues to transmit from shaft 2 through 2
chain transmissions [7] to the working mechanism which is
2 rows of rollers (large and small).

b) Gearbox control
To be able to control the gear level, we use the lever
mechanism [8'. The lever will be mounted on the lug clutch
so that the clutch can be pushed to the fast gear side or to
the slow gear side. From there, shaft 2 will rotate according
to the transmission ratio of one of the two gear pairs above.
The reasonable lever structure includes two functions: a
static function above and a dynamic function below. These
two jaws are attached together with pins so that the jaws do
not come off while working. Behind the static jaw is a lever
mechanism for the user to hold when shifting gears.

c) Pressure generating structure
The machine uses springs [9] as a mechanism to
generate pressure. With 2 roller rows of different diameters,
we use 2 different types of springs to match the 2 different
roller rows. The small roller series will use 2 small springs
mounted on the moving roller. The large roller series will
use 2 large springs mounted on the moving roller. The
springs will exert pressure to force the fruit to press against
the cinnamon branch, causing the cinnamon bark to split.

3. RESULTS

transmission, shaft 1 and shaft 2.

Design the gear box body, other mechanisms such as:
bearing covers, roller bearings, oil seals, sealing rings... and
then assemble all the parts together. Use bolts and nuts to
fix the details. The result is as shown above
b) Frame and machine structure assembly
After designing all the mechanisms, design the frame to
assemble the mechanisms into a complete machine. The
frame is made of L-shaped steel, welded together. Simulate
the movement of the machine while working with software.

4. DISCUSSION
Thus, the new machine model has been designed and
simulated on software. We see that the machine has new
improvements. 2 roller rows working simultaneously helps
increase productivity by 2 times. The 2-speed gearbox helps
workers adjust the speed of the machine to suit their own
abilities and the characteristics of cinnamon branches in
each season (in the dry season, use the slow level to increase
pressing time and in the rainy season, use the slow level.

Although the machine is simulated on software, we
realize its potential in harvesting cinnamon bark. If it is
produced and sold on the market, it will help increase
productivity and ensure worker safety.
5. CONCLUSION
Although there have been significant upgrades, this
cinnamon peeling machine model still has huge challenges
to overcome. Through this project, we have gained a better
understanding of the machine's capabilities and are
committed to making further efforts to improve its
performance and working ability in the future.
