Pembolizumabis an immune check-point inhibitor to be targeted for Programmed cell death 1 (PD-1). It has been shown promising efficacy to various types of cancer. In Vietnam, pembrolizumab has been available since early of 2018. We has performed to treat certain types of cancer with pembrolizumabby now, herein we report the early experience with pembrolizumabin single institute in Vietnam.

Ovarian cancer constitutes one of the most lethal gynecologic malignancies for females. Currently, early detection strategies and therapeutic options for ovarian cancer are far from satisfactory, leading to high diagnosis rates at late stages and disease relapses. New avenues of therapy are needed that target key processes in ovarian cancer progression.

Several studies have demonstrated that the preoperative Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and modifed GPS (mGPS) refected the prognosis in patients undergoing curative surgery for colorectal cancer. However, there are no reports on long-term prognosis prediction using high-sensitivity mGPS (HS-GPS) in colorectal cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to calculate the prognostic value of preoperative HS-GPS in patients with colon cancer.

Peroxisomes are pivotal metabolic organelles that exist in almost all eukaryote cells. A reduction in numbers and enzymatic activities of peroxisomes was found in colon adenocarcinomas. However, the role of peroxisomes or the peroxisome pathway in colorectal cancer (CRC) is not defined.

The immune system recognizes and destroys cancer cells. However, cancer cells develop mecha‑ nisms to avoid detection by expressing cell surface proteins. Specific tumour cell surface proteins (e.g. HLA-G, PD-L1, CDX2) either alone or in combination with the relative presence of immune cells (CD3 and CD8 positive T-cells) in the tumour tissue may describe the cancer cells’ ability to escape eradication by the immune system.

Activated Cdc42-associated kinase 1 (ACK1), a kind of tyrosine kinase, is considered to be an oncogene in many cancers, and it is likely to become a potential target for cancer treatment. We found that the expression of the ACK1 gene in colon cancer was higher than that in normal tissues adjacent to cancer, and high expression of the ACK1 gene was associated with poor prognosis of patients.

In this paper, we present an overview of the imbalanced data classification and the difficulties encountered in current approaches, from which we propose a new method, SMOTE-PLS. To evaluate the effectiveness of this new method, we conducted experiments based on standard cancer data sets from UCI sources, including breast-p, coil2000, leukemia, colon-cancer, and yeast.

Group IID secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2-IID), a heparin-binding sPLA2 that is closely related to sPLA2-IIA, augments stimulus-induced cellular arachidonate release in a manner similar to sPLA2-IIA. Here we identified the residues of sPLA2-IID that are responsible for heparanoid binding, are and therefore essential for cellular function.

Matrilysin (matrix metalloproteinase-7) plays important roles in tumor progression. It was previously found that matrilysin binds to the surface of colon cancer cells to promote their metastatic potential. In this study, we identified annexin II as a novel membrane-bound substrate of matrilysin. Treatment of human colon cancer cell lines with active matrilysin released a 35 kDa annexin II form, which lacked its N-terminal region, into the culture supernatant. The release of the 35 kDa annexin II by matrilysin was significantly enhanced in the presence of serotonin or heparin....

We determined differentially expressed genes in HT29 human colon cancer cells, both after short treatment with methotrexate (MTX) and after the resistance to MTX had been established. Screening was performed using Atlas Human Cancer 1.2K cDNA arrays. The analysis was carried out using Atlasimage 2.01 andgenespring6.1 software.

N-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) may be associated with increased risk of colon cancer, whereas n-3 PUFAs may have a protective effect. We examined the effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid and arachidonic acid on the colon carcinoma cell lines SW480 derived from a primary tumour, and SW620 derived from a metastasis of the same tumour.

Galloylated and nongalloylated catechin conjugates with cysteine deriva-tives have been synthesized and evaluated for their capacity to scavenge free radicals and to influence crucial functions (cell cycle, apoptosis) in HT29 colon carcinoma cells. We show that the nonphenolic part of the molecule modified the capacity of catechins to donate hydrogen atoms and to transfer electrons to free radicals.

Human colon adenocarcinoma cells (HT29-ATCC) and the clone HT29-5F7 were cultured under conditions that differentiate cells to a polarized intestinal phenotype. Differentiated cells showed the presence of junctional complexes and intercellular lumina bordered by microvilli. Intestinal brush border hydrolase activities (sucrase, aminopeptidase N, lactase and mal-tase) were detected mainly in differentiated HT29-ATCC cells compared with the differentiated clone, HT29-5F7.

Physalis philadelphicaLam, commonly known as a tomatillo, is a staple of the Mesoamerican cuisine. In our laboratory, an ethyl acetate-soluble extract and four withanolides [ixocarpalactone A (IxoA), ixocarpalac-tone B, philadelphicalactone B, and withaphysacarpin] were isolated. Stud-ies conducted on Hepa-1c1c7 hepatoma cells revealed that withanolides were potent inducers of quinone reductase, suggesting possible cancer chemo-protective activity.

Grape (Vitis vinifera) and pine (Pinus pinaster) bark extracts are widely used as nutritional supplements. Procyanidin-rich fractions from grape and pine bark extract showing different mean degrees of polymerization, per-centage of galloylation (percentage of gallate esters) and reactive oxygen species-scavenging capacity were tested on HT29 human colon cancer cells.
