In this study, the efficacy of educational technology tools in enhancing speaking skills was explored through a quasi-experimental design involving 84 IT freshmen. Employing tools such as FORVO (FV), YouGlish (YG), and Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary (OALD) 8th edition, the research compared the speaking abilities of students using these technologies (experimental group) against those taught through traditional methods (control group).

By the aim to enhance the listening skills of EFL freshmen, an experiment was conducted using cartoons with thirty-five first-year students in an experimental group, compared to a control group, through pre-tests and post-tests. Their self-report active participation in the e-quizzes and follow-up teacher/peer feedback sessions demonstrated high levels of behavioral engagement. Students were, however, slightly less in agreement with the benefits of Quizizz in enhancing their self-monitoring and critical thinking skills. The study "A genre analysis of abstracts of MA theses in English Linguistics" explores to what extent the Vietnamese learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) apply the knowledge that they have formally learned in the Writing and the Doing scientific research courses to writing their MA graduation theses; the focus is on the abstract. From the perspective of genre analysis, this study aims to describe the structural features of this genre. Data for the investigation is 30 abstracts bounded in the master theses written in English by Vietnamese learners.

The reading comprehension skill is considered as one of the four fundamental language skills that an EFL learner must perform. It examines the speech act of apologizing in American English and Vietnamese focusing on pragmatic transfer. A discourse completion task (DCT) was used to elicit apology responses from four groups of participants: 18 native speakers of American English (Es), 20 native speakers of Vietnamese (Vs), 20 Vietnamese elementary learners of English (VEEs) and 20 Vietnamese advanced learners of English (VEAs).

The triangulated data results are surprisingly revealing in many essential aspects of vocabulary instruction, ranging from selecting vocabulary, teaching vocabulary directly and indirectly, explaining vocabulary meanings, teaching vocabulary through skills in various teaching phases in class. Hopefully, the findings of the study have provided an insightful understanding of vocabulary teaching practices in the primary school settings in Vietnam. From these empirical findings, relevant implications are suggested for better vocabulary instruction to young learners in Vietnam.
