  • This paper proposes an experiment on a customed Convolution Neural Network (CNN) based waste detector for three classes of trash: Plastic bottles, Cans, and Glass. The study used up to 900 hand-collected image data separated into 500 for analysis and 400 remains for assessing the result. All trashed objects used for generating data were collected around the Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology (HCMUT, Vietnam).

Since SDN is regarded as a new research issue, the application of SDN in practice faces some barriers. Most network devices such as routers and switches that implement SDN functionalities are expensive. An alternative solution in SDN research and experiments is to use network emulators. By using Mininet, an open source network emulator, this study simulates SDN implementations in different environments.

  • In this study, we provide a greatly improved precision of estimations using the LISE code by evaluating the energy loss straggling of the alpha particles at 5.486 MeV in Tb, Ta, and Au materials. After comparing with the observables, it was found that the ratio of the energy loss straggling computed by the LISE code to that measured in experiments has a fairly large range of 1.5 - 3.0.

  • This research calculated the power spectrum of Alpha wave and Theta wave, to detect the transition of wake - sleep stages by K-means clustering algorithm. Sleep latency is one of the factors that determine the quality of sleep. The sleep onset is detected based on the phase shift of the Alpha and Theta waves. The exact timing of the sleep onset was important in this study. The user interface was developed in this study to compute sleep latency in normal and musical experiment.

  • In this paper, the authors propose a novel adaptive multilayer T-S fuzzy controller (AMTFC) with a optimize soft computing algorithm for a class of robust control uncertain nonlinear SISO systems. First, a new multilayer T-S fuzzy was created by combined multiple simple T-S fuzzy model with a sum function in the output. The multi-layer fuzzy model used in nonlinear identification has many advantages over conventional fuzzy models, but it cannot be created by the writer's experience or the trial and error method. It can only be created using an optimization algorithm.

  • This paper addresses the problem of blocking artifact characterization that is introduced when using low bit-rate JPEG compression. Specifically, a novel blocking metric is presented to characterize the distortion of JPEG blocking artifact when applied to document content. Furthermore, the proposed metric is directly processed in the transform domain without the need of fully decompressing the images, making its computation very time-efficient. Correlation of the proposed metric to OCR performance is validated through our experiments.
