A finite element model using a multi-fiber approach is proposed in this paper for the analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) members using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcements, with a specific focus on the effect of pure torsion. The main objective of this study is to develop a numerical finite element model to predict the behavior of RC beams with FRP reinforcement under pure torsional effects.

The interphase is a region between fibers and a matrix, which has different properties from the matrix and the fibers, but is dependent on them. Considering the interphase region has a significant effect on the accuracy of obtained residual stresses.

It is shown that the experimental failure loads are well predicted by means of both the UMTS-EMC and UMS-EMC criteria. Moreover, the experimental observations and the elastic-plastic finite element analyses indicate that the U-notched aluminum sheets fail by the large-scale yielding (LSY) regime.

There are literally several studies accomplished to predict the fatigue life of leaf springs but estimation of fatigue life of a parabolic leaf spring by using CAE tools has not yet been executed in the past. Parabolic spring is an important component in a vehicle suspension system.

In this paper, an extended forming limit stress diagram (EFLSD) was applied to predict neck initiation failure in tube hydroforming of metal bellows. The proposed EFLSD was used in conjunction with ABAQUS/ EXPLICIT finite element simulations to predict the onset of necking in tube hydroforming of metal bellows.

(BQ) This paper reports an intelligent approach for process modeling and optimization of electric discharge machining (EDM). Physics based process modeling using finite element method (FEM) has been integrated with the soft computing techniques like artificial neural networks (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA) to improve prediction accuracy of the model with less dependency on the experimental data.

Structural Testing is used to verify the static strength, or fatigue strength of a component by applying measured loads to the test item. Testing can be done to failure, to contractual requirements or to validate finite element model predictions. DTB has successfully completed thousands of structural tests on items ranging in size and complexity from simple coupons to entire aircraft. Fatigue Testing is carried out with the objective of determining the relationship between the stress range and the number of times it can be applied before causing failure....
