Key metrics

The goal of this study is to demonstrate and quantify the impact that the uncertainty in thermophysical properties has on key metrics of thermal hydraulic importance for MSRs, in particular on the heat transfer coefficient. In order to achieve this, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations using the RANS k-ω SST model were compared to published experiment data on molten salt.

A Hausdorff measure version of the Duffin-Schaeffer conjecture in metric number theory is introduced and discussed. The general conjecture is established modulo the original conjecture. The key result is a Mass Transference Principle which allows us to transfer Lebesgue measure theoretic statements for lim sup subsets of Rk to Hausdorff measure theoretic statements. In view of this, the Lebesgue theory of lim sup sets is shown to underpin the general Hausdorff theory. This paper is a continuation of Fefferman’s program [7] for studying the geometry and analysis of strictly pseudoconvex domains. The key idea of the program is to consider the Bergman and Szeg¨ kernels of the domains as o analogs of the heat kernel of Riemannian manifolds. In Riemannian (or conformal) geometry, the coefficients of the asymptotic expansion of the heat kernel can be expressed in terms of the curvature of the metric; by integrating the coefficients one obtains index theorems in various settings. ...

This paper is the first in a series where we describe the space of all embedded minimal surfaces of fixed genus in a fixed (but arbitrary) closed Riemannian 3-manifold. The key for understanding such surfaces is to understand the local structure in a ball and in particular the structure of an embedded minimal disk in a ball in R3 (with the flat metric).
