
Multi-wall carbon nanotubes

Individual and competitive adsorption studies were carried out to investigate the removal of phenol and nickel ions by adsorption onto multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The carbon nanotubes were characterized by different techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy. The different experimental conditions affecting the adsorption process were investigated. Kinetics and equilibrium models were tested for fitting the adsorption experimental data.

In this study, a functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-coated solidphase microextraction (SPME) fiber was developed for concentrating analyses in aqueous samples. Sodium deoxycholate (NaDC) was used as a dispersing agent for non-covalent modification of MWCNTs.

A micro-scale honeycomb-patterned conducting film was fabricated by using the Poly(N-vinylcarbazole)/ multiwalled carbon nanotube (PVK-MWCNT) composite solution. These composite solutions with different MWCNT concentrations were facially prepared by dispensing non-surface modified MWCNT into PVK solution under vigorous sonication for a long time.

In this study, we investigate the multiwall carbon nanotubes (MW CNTs) in IsoPropanol (IPA) solvent with different sonication conditions, membrane filter size for paper with areal density of 3 mg/cm2 with different sizes such as 4, 10, 20 cm in diameter and large scale of 30×30 cm2 . It is observed that the dispersion of CNTs are good and the thickness, conductivity are uniform over whole sample for above sizes. We also can get the highest conductivity of buckypaper was 3.9×103 S/m in 30 minutes.

In this study, a new simple stretch-drawing method was used to modify the structures of the aligned CNT sheets for improving the composite properties. The stretch-drawing of the CNT sheets enhanced the composite properties considerably. The improved properties of the composites originated from straightening of the wavy CNTs and increasing the CNT dense packing in the composites.

Carbon nanotubes were identified for the first time in 1991 by Sumio Iijima at the NEC Research Laboratory, using high resolution transmission electron microscopy, while studying the soot made from by-products obtained during the synthesis of fullerenes by the electric arc discharge method. In this soot, Iijima clearly observed the so-called multiwalled nanotubes, molecular carbon tubes with diameters in the nanometer range, consisting of carbon atoms arranged in a seamless graphitic structure rolled up to form concentric cylinders.
