This thesis focuses on four constructs of perceived adverse impacts of climate change, perceived anthropogenic causes of climate change; perceived policy effectiveness, and feasibility to explain Australian public support for mitigation policies. The study draws from major theories in the field such as the Theory of Planned Behaviour, Risk Perception Theory, the Extended Parallel Process Model, and Social Dilemma literature.

This thesis is comprised of eight chapters. Following this introductory chapter, Chapter 2 provides a summary of literature relating to OHS accountability and examines issues relating to OHS performance management. Chapter 3 presents a review of stakeholder, legitimacy and institutional theory literature. The research method employed is discussed and justified in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 presents the results of the stakeholder survey and in doing so describes stakeholder demand for OHS disclosure.

The purpose of this research is to model the factors affecting a production and inventory system that combines returns and remanufacturing, and to evaluate effective control strategies in order to improve the performance of the system. In this regard, the main steps adopted to conduct the modelling process initially involved an investigation of reverse logistics and closed loop supply modelling as reported in the literature. An investigation of previous models developed contributed to our research by increasing the knowledge required to conduct the modelling.

The study is concerned with the conception of capital and income in the changing economic circumstances of the late nineteenth century. This issue arises as a matter of interest from the confusing accounting for capital assets then followed, and which has become the subject of a small but significant literature.

This study provides comparative findings on the impact of adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) on the value relevance of reported accounting and non-accounting information in a set of six countries with a British accounting heritage but divergent harmonization paths leading up to IFRS adoption. The countries included in the sample are the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.

The genus Litsea Lam. (Lauraceae) and Lepisanthes Blume (Sapindaceae) are wildly distributed in Vietnam, especially in the mountainous areas. The reports in the literatures indicated that these two genus contain many constituents with interesting structures and potential biological activities. In order to find interesting substances for development of new pharmaceutical ingredients or functional food products we would like to conduct the resarch thesis ‘‘Study on Chemical constituents and biological activities of Litsea glutinosa (Lour.) Rob. (Lauraceae) and Lepisanthes rubiginosa (Roxb.

This review summarizes the most recent state of haemo-globin (Hb) research based on the literature and our own results. In particular, an attempt is made to form a unified picture for haemoglobin function by reconciling the cooperative oxygen binding with the stabilization of the bound dioxygen in aqueous solvent. The HbA molecule contains two types ofabcontacts. One type is thea1b2or a2b1 contacts, called sliding contacts, and these are strongly associated with the cooperative binding of O2to the a2b2 tetramer. ...

The localization of different classes of alcohol dehydro-genases (ADH) in the brain is of great interest because of their role in both ethanol and retinoic acid metabolism. Conflicting data have been reported in the literature. By Northern blot and enzyme activity analyses only class III ADH has been detected in adult brain specimens, while results from riboprobe in situ hybridization indicate class I as well as class IV ADH expression in different regions of the rat brain.

The complex C1 triggers the activation of the Complement classical pathway through the recognition and binding of antigen–antibody complex by its subunit C1q. The globular region of C1q is responsible for C1 binding to the immune complex. C1q can also bind nonimmune molecules such as DNAand sulfated polysaccharides, leading either to the activation or inhibition of Complement. The binding site of these nonimmune ligands is debated in the literature, and it has beenproposed to be located either in the globular region or in the collagen-like regionof C1q, or inboth....

In this article we compared the metabolism of phosphorylated and unphosphorylated oligosaccharides (cellodextrins and maltodextrins) in Fibrobacter succinogenes S85 resting cells incubated with the following substrates: glucose; cellobiose; a mixture of glucose and cellobiose; and cellulose. Intracellular and extracellular media were analysed by 1 H-NMR and by TLC. The first important finding is that no cellodextrins were found to accumulate in the extracellular media of cells, regardless of the substrate; this contrasts to what is generally reported in the literature....

Why are there so many dimeric proteins and enzymes? While for hetero-dimers a functional explanation seems quite reasonable, the case of homo-dimers is more puzzling. The number of homodimers found in all living organisms is rapidly increasing. A thorough inspection of the structural data from the available literature and stability (measured from denatura-tion–renaturation experiments)

Chicken metallothionein (ckMT) is the paradigm for the study of metallo-thioneins (MTs) in the Aves class of vertebrates. Available literature data depictckMTas a one-copy gene, encoding an MT protein highly similar to mammalian MT1. In contrast, the MT system in mammals consists of a four-member family exhibiting functional differentiation.

Group I intron ribozymes require cations for folding and catalysis, and the current literature indicates that a number of cations can promote folding, but only Mg 2+ and Mn 2+ support both processes. However, some group I introns are active only with Mg 2+ , e.g. three of the five group I introns in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. We have investigated one of these ribozymes, an intron from the 23S LSU rRNA gene of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (Cr.LSU), by determining if the inhibition by Mn 2+ involves catalysis, folding, or both....

The number of macromolecular structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank now exceeds 45 000, with the vast majority determined using crystal-lographic methods. Thousands of studies describing such structures have been published in the scientific literature, and 14 Nobel prizes in chemistry or medicine have been awarded to protein crystallographers.

We have investigated the existence of a precoupled form of the distal C-ter-minal truncated cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1-417) and heterotrimeric G proteins in a heterologous insect cell expression system. CB1-417 showed higher production levels than the full-length receptor. The production lev-els obtained in our expression system were double the values reported in the literature.

ORGANIZATIONL CHANGE THROUGH THE MANDATED IMOLEMENTATION OF NEW INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY : A MODIFIED TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL A second shortcoming of the validity literature is more fundamental. In a world in which student background characteristics are known to be correlated with academic success (i.e. with both SAT scores and collegiate grades), it is quite difficult to interpret validity estimates that fail to take account of these background characteristics.
