To evaluate the results of soft tissue defect treatment with ALT composite flaps in covering secondary soft tissue defects after radical tumors resection. Method: From October 2017 to April 2023, we performed a series of 10 single-stage surgeries using composite anterior lateral thigh flap to cover secondary tissue defects in 2 cases covered Achilles tendon defects and 8 cases covered secondary defects after resection of tumors.

Soft tissue defects in the calcaneal region represent a reconstructive challenge because of their complexity and the lack of local flaps. We report a clinical case of using the medial plantar free flap to cover of this area. The advantages of the flaps will be discussed.

Evaluate the treatment results of soft-tissue defects in the wrist-hand region by radial artery perforator flaps. Subjects and methods: A prospective, non-controlled study and cross-sectional description of 10 patients with soft-tissue defects in the wrist-hand region due to burns, indicated for reconstructive treatment using radial artery perforator flaps at the Center for Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital, from January to September, 2021.

The keystone flap is an effective technique for reconstructive surgery that restores the natural contour of the affected area and provides superior aesthetic results. This technique involves taking healthy skin and subcutaneous tissue from a nearby area and transplanting it to the site of the defect, creating a new skin area that meets the patient’s ideal outcome.

Primary and secondary reconstruction of the thumb is a common reconstructive challenge for the hand and plastic surgeons. Currently, The kite flap or the First dorsal metacarpal artery flap remains the regular choice and is believed to be the best for distal thumb defects, but it’s the first time we have utilized a reverse homodigital dorsal radial flap for the thumb with an expected outcome.

Anterolateral thigh flap (ALT flap) is first found and used by Song in 1984. Classified in the perforator type flaps, ALT flaps is blood supplied by the perforators of the descending branch of the lateral circumflex thigh artery. The flap is the first of choice in many cases, those need a large soft tissue for reconstruction, especially in the cervico facial area thanks to many advantages of the flap: constants and relievable anatomic structure, large blood supply, flexible in use as well as other advantages.

The external pudendal artery flap is a good option for the treatment of patients with penile soft tissue defects. Due to its simplicity, short operation time, easy dissection, good aesthetic outcome. Therefore the external pudendal artery flap is an optimal choice for the treatment of cases of genital soft tissue defects (scrota and penis).

The treatment of fracture-related infections (FRI) is still a challenge for orthopedic surgeons. The prevalence of FRI is particularly high in open fractures with extensive soft-tissue damage. This study aimed to develop a new two-step animal model for non-unions with segmental bone defects, which could be used to evaluate new innovative bone substitutes to improve the therapeutic options in humans with FRI and bone defects.

Open and closed fractures can be associated with posttraumatic or postoperative soft tissue defects caused by initial trauma, operative procedures, or infections. This study evaluated the postoperative outcomes in patients with open or closed lower leg fractures, related soft tissue defects, and subsequent flap coverage.

Sarcomas that arise from the scapula or periscapular soft tissues often require a total scapulectomy. This often implies a large complex tissue defect that needs adequate reconstruction of both bone and soft tissue.

To overcome the limited source of autogenous bone in bone grafting, many efforts have been made to find bone substitutes. The use of hybrid composites of silk and hydroxyapatite to simulate natural bone tissue can overcome the softness and brittleness of the individual components.

Purpose: Soft tissue defects can result in exposition of tendons, bones, joints and nerves… which must be covered early by flaps. Groin free flaps can afford the soft tissue defects. Materials and methods: Groin free flaps were used for 5 cases to cover soft tissue defects at hand, leg, ankle and foot. Those were followed up. Results: 2 soft tissue defects of foot, others 2 of leg and ankle, 1 of hand. All cases were covered by groin free flaps which have good results.
