This paper presents a new approach to establishing the interior ballistic algorithm for mortar systems based on thermodynamic theory. Contrary to previous studies, the processes that occurred in the ignition charges and the gas mixture properties in the barrel were considered in this study. The numerical integration method has been used to solve the problem with high accuracy.

This thesis explores the problem of wasteful fashion consumption in light of the current need for individuals to develop a sustainable way of living. The Agenda 21 report from the Rio Earth Summit (1992) determined that sustainable consumption is an issue to be addressed in terms of resource conservation, waste reduction and a reduction of production pollutants. To date, in Australia, there are no policies or strategies in place to reduce wasteful consumption from the consumer’s perspective and it is this research and policy deficit that this thesis research addresses.

This project will investigate of the effects of applying scientific modes of analysis to the process of artistic production. Methodologies derived from the disciplines of classification and taxonomy will be used to examine the formal relationships between sculptural objects in respect to their conceptual and actual development. Evolutionary theory will be used as a model in this analysis. This thesis explores contemporary experiences of entrepreneurial knowledge work in emerging and rapidly changing areas of economy and society through a detailed ethnographic analysis of the motivations, social practices and changing experiences of a pioneering Coworking community in Melbourne, Australia. Coworking is a complex social phenomenon. Whilst ‘Coworking spaces’ are open plan office environments that mobile, independent knowledge workers share as places of work, ‘Coworking practices’ are the methods by which these independent actors choose to work in close proximity, interact socially and sometimes collaborate on shared projects.

This thesis investigates the extent to which our knowledge of modern systems oriented accounting theories can explain the shortcomings in nineteenth century financial reporting as carried out by the railway companies. The work is not intended to be a thesis on history. Nor is it a thesis on accounting theories. Rather, the work looks at historical events from the perspective of a modern accountant. The two main questions addressed by the thesis are whether it is feasible to use modern systems oriented accounting theories to investigate and explain the historical events covered in this study and whether the Double Account System achieved its aims. The paper contains a brief outline of the development and collapse of the UK railway companies in the mid-nineteenth century. The paper then considers the purpose of accounting and whether it is merely a measuring tool or a social instrument.

The thesis "The Double Account System in Nineteenth Century U.K. Railways: An Analysis from an Accounting Theory Perspective" investigates the extent to which our knowledge of modern systems oriented accounting theories can explain the shortcomings in nineteenth century financial reporting as carried out by the railway companies. The work looks at historical events from the perspective of a modern accountant. The two main questions addressed by the thesis are whether it is feasible to use modern systems oriented accounting theories to investigate and explain the historical events covered in this study and whether the Double Account System achieved its aims.

The dissertation is written on the basis of the paper published in Annales Polonici Mathematici, the paper published in Acta Mathematica Vietnamica and the paper published in Results in Mathematics.

The simulation results demonstrate the possibilistic particle forward-backward smoothing performs well and improves bearings-only tracking performance. Furthermore, possiblistic smoothing also demonstrates better performance than probabilistic smoothing in model-mismatched case.

Research aims: The research aims at researching and developing theoretical and practical basis for control theory-based teaching. On that basis, the research builds up the process of control theory-based teaching and apply it to teaching PLC modules for engineering majored college students.
