  • The micropropagation protocol of tropical, small evergreen, true mangrove, and woody shrub or tree species, Aegiceras corniculatum, has been standardized. Axillary shoot proliferation was induced in vitro from nodal explants excised from 3-4 years field-grown old plant which was then used as explants for the establishment of in vitro cultures. Surface-sterilized explants were cultured on the Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with different concentrations and a combination of growth regulators.

  • In this study, we investigated four factors to improve the hairy root induction in Urena lobata L. These factors include: age of plant (15-day-old in vitro plants, 45-day-old in vitro plants and after two subculture generations plants), different parts of plant (roots, stems, and leaves), infection time (10, 20 and 30 minutes), and culture medium (Murashige and Skoog (MS), Gamborg B5 medium (GB5) and Woody plant medium (WPM)).

  • The present investigation was carried out at Tissue Culture Laboratory of S.K.N. Agriculture University, Jobner, India during 2018-19. Experiment was laid out using completely randomized design (CRD) with ten replications. Six culture media viz. Murashige and Skoog media, Nitsch & Nitsch media, woody plant medium, Schenk and Hildebrant medium, White’s medium and Khudson solution– C were tested for direct shoot proliferation and callus induction at most responsive level of plant growth regulators in Bael (Aegle marmelos L.).

  • Micropropagation of Indian Blackberry (Syzygium cumini L.) species locally called as Jamun, has always been a challenging task. In India, Jamun tree is an underutilized minor fruit crop species possessing a high medicinal and nutritional value. An efficient protocol for rapid shoot proliferation of Jamun (cv. Rajamun) from nodal segment of locally grown mature trees has been developed. Experiments were conducted at Biotech Centre, Dr. PDKV, Akola during 2016-18. The Lloyd and McCown woody plant medium (WPM) used as a basal media supplemented with growth regulators at varying concentrations.

  • The first successful induction of adventitious shoot buds on Santalum album L. leaves is reported. De novo shoots were induced directly on leaves without any callusing stage. A leaf length of 0.5-1.5 cm only showed bud inducing potential. Bud formation occurred on both MS and WPM basal media, although, liquid media were more responsive.

  • This study was designed to micropropagate Vaccinium myrtillus L., a naturally growing bilberry, in the Turkish flora. In order to determine the most effective basal medium, lateral buds were initially selected as explants, which were then individually cultured in Murashige and Skoog medium, Anderson’s rhododendron medium, and McCown’s woody plant medium (WPM) supplemented with 1.0 mg L–1 zeatin in combination with either 0.1 mg L–1 indole-3-butyric acid (IBA).

  • The aim of this study was to determine the most suitable growth medium for rapid and efficient micropropagation of Vaccinium arctostaphylos L. (Ericaceae) via lateral-bud cultures. According to preliminary studies, the best explant collection time was late April and May.

  • This novel approach was designed to increase the production capacity of Vaccinium uliginosum L. via direct organogenesis. Lateral buds containing one or two leaves were initially cultured in McCown woody plant medium (WPM), Anderson’s rhododendron medium, and Murashige and Skoog basal media, each supplemented with zeatin/indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and zeatin/naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) (1.0/0.1 mg L–1).
