It was alll done by people. Ordinary people. These same people brought Lenin’s portrait here, and wrote his words (8) ________ posters, and they read his books. No, people do not come here to pray: they come to learn and for advice”. “ Still, it’s strange : Lenin’s room in a temple.............” “ It may seem strange to you , but we don’t find it strange. Here, the Vietnamese solve not only religious but also everyday problems. And Lenin is now our chief adviser on those problems. People are more concerned about this world than the next.” I was silent for sometimes, thinking “ Here, at the world’s end, in a hut roofed over with coarse matting, sunburnt boys and girls sit on a sand floor, writing his name on paper (9) _______ the first time in their life, just as we once did. They link all their hopes and aspirations with Lenin. I want to say to these children : believe, dream, hope. All dreams linked with Lenin and his cause must come true. WHY EXAMINATIONS ARE IMPORTANT.
Most pupils are afraid of examinations ,but examinations are very important today. They are also very interesting. Examinations are important because they compel pupils to learn. Without them most pupils would not learn. So they would know very little about the world. They would learn only those subjects in which they are
interested and ignore the other subjects which are thought to be difficult subjects, though they are very important in the modern age. Examinations also help us to have some idea about a person’s knowledge of certain subjects. For example if a boy has passed his college entrance examination, we can at once know how much knowlege he has of certain subjects. Accordingly, we can have some idea of what kind of work he can do. This is why most employers want to know what examination a person has passed before he is given some work . Finally, examinations are interesting becauce we can test how much we ourselves know, while preparing for them. When we sit for an examination we enjoy answering what we know, though we feel sad if we are not successful in an examination.
1. Why are most pupils afraid of examinations? 2. Why wouldn’t most pupils learn if there weren’t examinations? 3. Why do we have exams? 4. How do pupils feel if they don’t pass their examination?
