UNIT 1: VERBS OF LIKING/ DISLIKING + GERUNDS/ TO INFINITIVES
(Động từ chỉ sự yêu thích/ không thích + V-ing/ to V)
- adore (ngưỡng mộ), enjoy (yêu thích), fancy (đam mê), mind (ngại/ phiền lòng), dislike (không thích),
detest (căm ghét) + V-ing
- like (thích), love (yêu thích), hate (ghét), prefer (thích hơn) + V-ing / to-inf
UNIT 2: COMPARATIVE FORM OF ADVERBS (So sánh hơn của trạng từ)
- Tính từ + LY → Trạng từ
- Hầu hết các trạng từ (thường nhiều hơn hai âm tiết), chúng ta hình thành dạng so sánh hơn bằng cách
thêm “more”: S + V + more + trạng từ dài
Ví dụ: slowly (chậm) → more slowly (chậm hơn);
carefully (cẩn thận) → more carefully (cẩn thận hơn)
- Với những trạng từ có hình thức giống như tính từ như fast (nhanh), hard (khó/ chăm chỉ/ vt vả),
soon (sớm),… chúng ta hình thành dạng so sánh bằng cách thêm -ER:
S + V + trạng từ ngắn - ER
Ví dụ: fast (nhanh) → faster (nhanh hơn)
hard (chăm chỉ/ khó/ vt vả) → harder (chăm chỉ/ khó/ vt vả hơn)
- Một số trạng từ bt quy tắc:
well (tốt) → better (tốt hơn)
badly (kém) → worse (kém hơn)
UNIT 3: SIMPLE SENTENCES & COMPOUND SENTENCES (Câu đơn & câu ghép)
- Một câu đơn gồm một mệnh đề độc lập.
Ví dụ: Minh has some problems with his schoolwork.
- Một câu ghép bao gồm hai hay nhiều mệnh đề độc lập, và chúng được liên kết bởi:
+ từ nối: for (vì), and (và), but (nhưng), or (hoặc), so (vì vậy)
Ví dụ: Mai bought many books, for she likes reading.
+ một trạng từ liên kết: however (tuy nhiên), therefore (vì vậy), otherwise (ngược lại)
Ví dụ: Mark is hard-working; therefore, he usually gets high scores on exams.
UNIT 4: YES/NO QUESTIONS & WH- QUESTIONS (Câu hỏi Yes/ No & câu hỏi Wh)
1. Wh-question (Câu hỏi Wh)
- Câu hỏi về chủ ngữ: Wh-word + V +…?
• Who told you?
• How many people went to the class last morning?
• Which bus goes to the shopping mall?
- Câu hỏi về tân ngữ: Wh-word + trợ động từ + S + V +…?
• Whom did you talk to?
• What did you make?
- Cu trúc câu hỏi Yes/ No
Câu hỏi Yes/No luôn bắt đầu bằng: động từ tobe (am /is /are / was/ were), trợ động từ (do, does, did)
hoặc một động từ khiếm khuyết (can/ should/ will…) và có thể trả lời đơn giản là Yes hoặc No, hay có thể lặp
lại câu hỏi.
• Is this interesting? – No, it is not.
• Are these islands part of Vietnam? – Yes, they are.
• Were they happy? – Yes, they were.
• Do they smoke? - No (they don’t).
• Did it work? - No (it didn’t).
• Does running hurt your knees? - Yes (it does). Can we stay? - Yes (we can).
• Should they stop? - No (they shouldn’t).
UNIT 5: ZERO ARTICLE (Không dùng mạo từ)
- Mạo từ trong tiếng Anh bao gồm a/an, the và không dùng mạo từ.
a / an (một) + danh từ đếm được số ít

the (mạo từ xác định) + danh từ số ít / danh từ số nhiều
- Thỉnh thoảng, chúng ta sử dụng danh từ mà không có a/an hoặc the. Chúng ta gọi là không dùng mạo
từ.
- Chúng ta không sử dụng mạo từ:
• với danh từ không đếm được hoặc danh từ trừu tượng:
Ví dụ: I like carrots. / Sugar is not good for your teeth.
• khi đưa ra nhận định chung chung. Ví dụ: Students should work hard.
• khi miêu tả các phương tiện giao thông nói chung. Ví dụ: We went home by boat.
• Bữa ăn: have breakfast, have lunch, have dinner…
• Năm / tháng / thứ ngày: on Monday, in May, in 2000
UNIT 6: FUTURE SIMPLE & FIRST CONDITIONAL
(Thì tương lai đơn & câu điều kiện loại 1)
1. The future simple (Thì tương lai đơn)
Chúng ta sử dụng thì tương lai đơn để miêu tả những khả năng và điều kiện trong tương lai.
Cu trúc: S + will + động từ nguyên thể
Ví dụ: We have to leave now, or we will miss the train.
If I fail the test, I will have to take the course again.
2. First conditional (Câu điều kiện loại 1)
Câu điều kiện loại 1 được dùng để diễn tả sự việc, điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
Cu trúc: If + S + V(hiện tại đơn), S + will V (tương lai đơn)
Chúng ta có thể sử dụng “unless” trong câu điều kiện. “Unless” có nghĩa “nếu…không…” hoặc “trừ khi…”.
Ví dụ: You will fail the test unless you study hard. = You will fail the test if you don’t study hard.

Exercise 1: Read the following passage and circle the letter A, B, C, or D to indicate the correct

GIFT-GIVING CUSTOMS IN VIET NAM
Gift-giving is important in Viet Nam because of the significance of interpersonal relationships in Vietnamese culture.
First and foremost, do not encourage corruption. There is a clear cut between gift-giving and bribery.
Nevertheless, it is common in Viet Nam for exchanging small gifts on certain occasions such as anniversaries,
Tet holidays... to express respect, love, appreciation, or gratitude.
Gift-giving customs depend on the context. If it is a private gift for one Vietnamese partner you should give
the gift at a private occasion. If you have a gift for the whole office or company, you should give it after the
business meeting with the whole office employee.
Do not wrap a gift in black paper because this color is unlucky and associated with funerals in Viet
Nam. Gifts that symbolize cutting such as scissors, knives, and other sharp objects should be avoided because
they mean the cutting of the relationship.
Vietnamese may or may not open these gifts when they are received; leave the option to them. You
will also receive gifts and should defer to your host as to whether you should open them when receiving or
not. Regardless of when it is opened or what it is, profuse thanks are always appropriate.
