Motivational factors influencing Khmer vietnamese EFL teachers’ career choice
Drawing on Self-Determination theory, the current study examined how intrinsic, altruistic and extrinsic factors affected their career choice within the sociocultural context of the Khmer ethnic community. Extrinsic motivations such as job stability and social respect were found to be secondary motivational factors.

Doctoral thesis of Philosophy: Word-of-mouth processing and higher education choice factors
This thesis is presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the College of Business, RMIT University. It includes five scientific papers which have been submitted and are currently under review or accepted for publication in targeted journals. These papers comprise one conceptual paper and four empirical papers. The five papers report studies on two related themes: (1) wordof-mouth processing, examined in the higher education context; and (2) higher education choice factors, and the delivery of the choice factor information in word-ofmouth communication.

Doctoral thesis of Philosophy: An investigation of undergraduate choice behaviour of a preferred program, discipline and university: a conceptual model
This thesis investigates the choice behaviour of first year undergraduate students through proposing and testing a conceptual model. The psychological constructs of personal values, motivation, selection criteria, demographic and socioeconomic factors introduced as underlying drivers provide invaluable insight into the pathways of influence and relationships between student types and their preference towards a particular degree program at a particular university. Questionnaires from 304 first year undergraduate students from the three academic portfolios of Business, Science, Engineering and Technology and Design and Social Context were analysed.

On Fiscal Discipline and the Choice of Exchange Rate Regine This result conflicts with a well-known recent result from Hoxby (2000a), who argues that metropolitan areas with less centralized educational governance, and therefore more competition among local school districts, produce better student outcomes at lower cost. In Chapter Two, I attempt to get to the bottom of the discrepancy. I reanalyze a portion of Hoxby’s data, and find reason to suspect the validity of her conclusions.
