  • This paper introduces the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category. The motivation comes from the study of Dirichlet branes in string theory, and especially from M.R. Douglas’s work on Π-stability. From a mathematical point of view, the most interesting feature of the definition is that the set of stability conditions Stab(D) on a fixed category D has a natural topology, thus defining a new invariant of triangulated categories.

  • This article presents the method of determining the stability limit of the vehicle (robots or electric wheelchairs) that use tracks (chain, belt) for climbing and descending stairs. Research method was conducted by modeling vehicle which is working under the influence of some elements such as geometric, mass, velocity, acceleration, friction...Afterthat, we identify some conditions which lead to tipping.

  • In the present paper, the stability of inverter-based microgrids is considered. A decentralized state-feedback control approach for inverter-based microgrids with a linear matrix inequality (LMI) stability condition is proposed. Controller gains for inverters are designed by solving the LMI optimization problem. The resulting controller stabilizes the system, guaranteeing zero steady-state frequency deviations.

  • Political stability plays an important role for sustainable development in Vietnam. The paper analyzes experiential lessons drawn by the Communist Party of Vietnam from the national socio-economic development in the recent years. The paper also provides an explanation of why political stability is seen as the premise and a necessary condition for sustainable development in Vietnam.

  • In the five years since the first edition of this book was published, there has been an explosion in new information relating to the nature of dry skin and its treatment. Investigators from various disciplines, including dermatologists, pharmacists, chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, physiologists, pharmacologists, and even psychologists have advanced our knowledge tremendously. We now understand that the stratum corneum has a surprisingly large number of functions in maintaining the physiologic stability and homeostasis of the skin and mind.

  • FUZZY DESCRIPTOR SYSTEMS AND CONTROL This chapter deals with a fuzzy descriptor system defined by extending the original Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. A number of stability conditions for the fuzzy descriptor system are derived and represented in terms of LMIs. A motivating example for using the fuzzy descriptor system instead of the original Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is presented. An LMI-based design approach is employed to find stabilizing feedback gains and a common Lyapunov function.

  • Weathering steel is NYSDOT’s first choice for steel multi-girder bridges under most conditions. This decision has been made in part because of the cost savings that can be realized due to decreased painting and maintenance requirements. However, recent studies have shown that this may not always be the case. This presentation will discuss some situations where bridges with weathering steel are underperforming and whether or not the situation can be rectified for future applications.

  • With this approach the geometry and structure aspects of the bridge must be known (such as the depth of the girder, the connection between the beams and deck, steel detailing, steel strength, etc.). With this information and assumptions and boundary conditions for load distribution along with the characteristics, analysis of the beam line can then be carried out and the load factor assessment development (AASTHO, 1994).

  • Sampling Biorthogonal Time Domain Method (SBTD) The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method was proposed by K. Yee [1] in 1966. The simplicity of the FDTD method in mathematics has proved to be its great advantage. The method does not involve any integral equations, Green’s functions, singularities, nor matrix equations. Neither does it involve functional or variational principles. In addition the FDTD proves to be versatile when used in complicated geometries.

  • There is no general consensus on how to define various risk-related terms, including the term “risk” itself, and people may have different views on how those terms apply to their particular organization. Both fund boards and advisers would benefit from establishing a common understanding of the terms and concepts they use in risk-related discussions, as well as how they apply to their funds. Some advisers include definitions or descriptions of how they view risk and risk management in their board presentations.

  • NEW STABILITY CONDITIONS AND DYNAMIC FEEDBACK DESIGNS This chapter presents a unified systematic framework of control synthesis w1 5x for dynamic systems described by the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. In comparison with preceding chapters, this chapter provides two significant extensions. First we provide a new sufficient condition for the existence of a quadratically stabilizing state feedback PDC controller which is more general and relaxed than the existing conditions.

  • Following are writing samples that have been annotated to illustrate the criteria required to meet the Common Core State Standards for particular types of writing—argument, informative/explanatory text, and narrative—in a given grade. Each of the samples exhibits at least the level of quality required to meet the Writing standards for that grade. The range of accomplishment within each grade reflects differences in individual development as well as in the conditions under which the student writers were expected to work.

  • STABILITY FOR DELAYED GENERALIZED 2D DISCRETE LOGISTIC SYSTEMS CHUAN JUN TIAN AND GUANRONG CHEN Received 28 August 2003 and in revised form 19 February 2004 This paper is concerned with delayed generalized 2D discrete logistic systems of the form xm+1,n = f (m,n,xm,n ,xm,n+1 ,xm−σ,n−τ ), where σ and τ are positive integers, f : N2 × R3 → 0 R is a real function, which contains the logistic map as a special case, and m and n are nonnegative integers, where N0 = {0,1,...} and R = (−∞, ∞). Some sufficient conditions for this system to be stable and exponentially stable...
